Very warm and heartfelt letter, John.  Thank you.  Although I do not think I could have written a better, well thought out letter, I would plead to change the wording of "awful loss" to perhaps "great" or "significant" loss or something to that effect.  I avoid using adjectives with negative connotations where ever I can.
