I just heard back from CW. Unfortunately they have no information that would be of any help to us. So tomorrow I will call the funeral home.   

Good luck with that.  I wrote an extremely polite email to the funeral home explaining that many folks here were trying to ascertain the identity of the William Arnell for whom they listed as having a Aug. service.  The funeral home did not have the courtesy of replying with even a "sorry, we cannot give out that information".  I do hope you have better success with them.

I'm not much of a detective but I hope to contact them by phone and see where that will lead me. perhaps they can give out a family member's phone number.

There are other options. But anything any one wants to try is fine with me.

And thanks Jonbouy for trying to get an address. Just knowing others are on board is helpful.

They may get it if you mail a copy in care of the Family to the funeral home. Just tinking out loud.

That is a great idea. It may come to that. I may send more than one letter too. And don't stop thinking out loud.

If the funeral home has a "Send Condolences" section on his obit...that might be another way of contacting his family.

With this forum having one's back it seems nothing is impossible.

If all else fails, give me a shout and I will head down to his apartment building again and see if the super has a forwarding address.

John, as many of these threads are getting pretty long and info can get lost in the numerous pages, it might be good to start a new thread once you get the letter out there to keep things tidy and so everyone can follow the next stage of this process easily. Yes?
