How are you guys backing up the installs? I'm sort of fighting with myself on how to go about it to be honest. Did you just put as many installs on a DVD as you could? Create an image or something and save to a dual layer DVD? I thought of just putting 2 installs on a DVD and doing it that way. The problem there is, to install this thing, I'll have to copy and paste all the installs onto my machine so things will run correctly.

I've got plenty of hard drive space, but I'd rather not be wasting it on programs. I'd rather store it somewhere and be able to install it easily from a few discs or whatever. Any suggestions? I guess I could just throw it on a 16 gig flash drive or something but you know how slow they are. Thanks in advance.

Hi Danny.

I've just copied the raw downloads onto an external HDD.

I put them on an older backup drive for now. I needed a place for them for the here and now. Hard copy will come soon.

Danny I have 6 HDs 5 on the system at any one time. I will at some point move the install files to DVD but there is no hurry and don't forget your DL will always be on the CW server if needed.

Hi Danny.

I've just copied the raw downloads onto an external HDD.

Ditto, in a folder with all my other music related downloads.

I burned the install files onto DVD, to avoid having them on my online drives.  Yes, in the event I needed to reinstall, I'd copy them from the DVD to a hard drive if they didn't execute smoothly from DVD, but hopefully I won't be reinstalling from scratch often, so that's fine for me.

Thanks guys, much appreciated.

John: When you do go to put it on DVD, how will you go about it? I'm just curious how you would go about backing these up. Would you store them to where you could execute the install from from the DVD's? If so, how do you go about something like that with all those files?

Or would you just put as much info on a DVD and move to the next one all the while knowing you'd have to copy and paste them from the discs to your hard drives to execute the installs if you ever had to install on another machine or whatever? Understand what I mean?

I guess I'm trying to look at it like....if I bought this boxed, it would probably contain a dual layer disc that would initiate all the installs and just ask for another disc when it was ready. How could I make my own "boxed" version that would work correctly?

For those using the Cake server as their back-up, how long is that good for? For example, if I wanted to get older Sonar versions I've purchased, they don't show up as downloadable on my account page. Sonar 8 and below have no download links. Is this because I bought them boxed and the ones I've downloaded will remain there forever? Thanks in advance. Sorry to ask these newbie questions...but to be honest, I've never had to deal with a 14 gig download before of a program and various goodies and I have no clue how to make this stuff work like it came out of the box. LOL!
