  • Pro 9 audio file import fine into producer but won't play in original .wrk file

I've imported .mid files from pro audio 9 and x1 plays them. I track down the audio .wav files from
the original .wrk file, and can import them into x1 & they play. After I import them into the .mid
file project, they are listed, and you can see the sound waves, but sonar says it can't play them.

My original complete files were done on an xp sp3 cptr, using a ua-25 interface, mic'd amp, small
m10 mmx mixer, and Pro 9. I'm using Producer on a 64 bit asus laptop with the same hardware.
As far as I know, my ua-25 drivers are up to date. Regardless of the hardware, if x1 plays both
the .mid files ok, and the imported .wav files, something's working. What I don't understand is
why I can't play them both in the same project. I'm aware that Producer won't play Pro 9's .wrk files.

The errror msg I get is "Unable to open audio playback device. Device may not support the current
audio projects' format or may be in use". If this was so, why is sonar able to play the .wav files as
standalone files? This is driving me nuts.

I'm confused when you mention .mid files and a .mid project. Are you referring to MIDI or audio?

In another thread I talk about problems loading a wrk file and associated audio from PA9 into 8.5. If you have another Sonar version (I used 6), load your PA9 project there then save it as a CPW project. That project should load into X1. For whatever reason, Cake seems to have done something to the code that read old format files sometime between Sonar 6 and 8.5.

8.53 plays wrk files for me.

As for the rest of your post, I don't understand anything you wrote.
