Awesome. That's what I wanted to hear. There is stuff GR5 does well but those darned amp sims end up making me chase my tail for hours. The only REALLY useful and realistic sounding one to me is the Hot Solo and that's limited in what styles you can play. Mind you I have only been plugging straight into my interface so using my Line6 head or micing my amp might help by giving me a better raw signal. I agree that the TH2 GUI is ridiculous from what I've seen but I find GRs interface is a PITA as well. Too big and clunky and it blocks out Sonar completely. These new PC FX control modules are gonna be a godsend.

Is TH2 any good in the first place? I have Guitar Rig and its a cool little fx suite (I don't play guitar) but I prefer Amplitube for Fx more so especially guitarish fx.

The THD amp model inside TH2 is different from everything else I've tried. Plus the cab/mic tweaking options are cool. At first, I was underwhelmed with TH2 (the "classic" amps models aren't all that), but I now believe that the THD model and I are going to become close friends!

Why a lot of people still prefer the Line6 products, when all of the competition has them left so far behind in terms of speaker modeling, is beyond me.

I did find the more cleaner sounds on TH2 to be quite lovely (Although dealing primarily with Noise Rock and Grunge thats not too much help for me)

I have now also used TH2 in conjunction with Gtr Rig to good effect.

But, the interface is just ghastly...The whole scrolling around modules is way too infantile... Why they made the GUI like this is beyond me.

That just shows to go ya'...

I've always thought how cartoon-ish the GR interface looks.

But, I guess its okay if you like neon and fizzy guitar tones.

I actually don't really like my Line6 head for anything aside from a handy input device. I can dial in two distinct sounds and run them out via XLR to my interface. Trying to get any kind of fully processed sound out of it is impossible but it provides a far cleaner tone (when dialed in correctly) than just plugging straight into my interface. I haven't tried it with my new set up yet though but I'm sure it will be better than the dry line in on the Scarlett... which isn't bad but it is still just a line in. Also my guitar is apparently really hot because I can't use the better sounding Hi-Z setting on the Scarlett so it'll provide me with a way to keep my input levels under control.

For TH2 Im the opposite in that I like the way the interface is laid out, it seems logical to me to arrange the parts in the way signal flows. There is no mystery in how it should sound and work in doing it this way. As always YMMV...

I like the way TH2 is laid out. It reminds me of my floor pedals spread across the floor. To me it is easy to follow the signal chain. You can put effects in any part of the chain even between the amp and the cabinet. Which is strange. The routing possibilities are great with this plug in. But what is more amazing to me are the cabinets. You can have a total of 4 mics. You can adjust the input of each one. You have total control over placement of two mics. I have the full version and in that you have 18 mics to choose from. all great mics.

The cabs have IR abilities as well. The amps are some of the highest quality I have heard in an amp sim. So much so that actual amp manufactures endorse TH2. You can even make your own amp models. It seems the key to understanding and getting good tone lies in the cabinet. experimenting with the mics can achieve great sounds.

Your right about leaving line 6 and Pod farm in the dust. The only thing here is that line 6 has Hardware and it is not just software. This makes line 6 competitive for live applications. At first I thought about putting TH2 on a laptop, but the truth is that would not be very road worthy. The hardware from line 6 is much more durable.

Now if TH2 ever made hardware to go with their software line 6 would be in deep trouble.

I tried the TH2 demo for a few weeks, and it's good. I went back to my Line 6 Hd500 running direct to my interface, and then I bought Redwirez MixIR2...I like the sounds of the hd500 better. I have my pod (with or without my DT50 amp), TH2, guitar rig 4 It's good to have options.

I think this is a preference to what kind of music you record...I almost would NEVER use an amp sim to record metal etc...but for clean/blues/classic...TH2 is really good...

It all depends on how you place stuff in the mix...and metal is an artform

I haven't tried TH2 yet but to be honest I love GR simply because I could get lost in there forever. There is sooo much you can do and so many components, especially if you got it as part of Komplete Ultimate. I don't think I'll ever get around to using all of the stuff that's in there. I'm only just starting to figure out how to use the sequencers and the beat slicer. To be honest I'm not that keen on the clean sounds in GR so hopefully TH2 is going to fill that gap. But Guitar Rig is my go-to whenever I want to experiment and add interest to otherwise drab synth presets etc. Some of the wacky effects presets they have in there are awesome. I find myself playing guitar for hours through presets like Moloching and Granular Sparkle etc.
