The THD amp model inside TH2 is different from everything else I've tried. Plus the cab/mic tweaking options are cool. At first, I was underwhelmed with TH2 (the "classic" amps models aren't all that), but I now believe that the THD model and I are going to become close friends!
Why a lot of people still prefer the Line6 products, when all of the competition has them left so far behind in terms of speaker modeling, is beyond me.
I like the way TH2 is laid out. It reminds me of my floor pedals spread across the floor. To me it is easy to follow the signal chain. You can put effects in any part of the chain even between the amp and the cabinet. Which is strange. The routing possibilities are great with this plug in. But what is more amazing to me are the cabinets. You can have a total of 4 mics. You can adjust the input of each one. You have total control over placement of two mics. I have the full version and in that you have 18 mics to choose from. all great mics.
The cabs have IR abilities as well. The amps are some of the highest quality I have heard in an amp sim. So much so that actual amp manufactures endorse TH2. You can even make your own amp models. It seems the key to understanding and getting good tone lies in the cabinet. experimenting with the mics can achieve great sounds.
Your right about leaving line 6 and Pod farm in the dust. The only thing here is that line 6 has Hardware and it is not just software. This makes line 6 competitive for live applications. At first I thought about putting TH2 on a laptop, but the truth is that would not be very road worthy. The hardware from line 6 is much more durable.
Now if TH2 ever made hardware to go with their software line 6 would be in deep trouble.
