First Post doing my best not to make an arse / ass of myself.
Qualifying this post by saying havent really plated with amp sims a lot I have never been friendly with GR
I found it annoying to use and if it was hardware I could of quite possibly broken it.
Not my best quality.
Anyway having said that TH2 was easy, open it up and press go  so to speak
input flow seemed logical  to me sounded as good as any sim I have heard  all good :)

Except

Bought the upgrade full version and now I appear to have one (Full version) that will work stand alone ... lovely
and the version that came with X2 that opens as a VST.
Tried reinstalling TH2 and no luck there
At a bit of a loss if anyone can help me I would greatly appreciate it
Paul

I just installed it this morning and noticed that the full version wanted to install the VST plugin in the Overloud\TH2 folder and not in my Cakewalk\VSTPlugins folder, so I changed the path when I installed it.  If you didn't either change the path when installing, or add the path to the VST from within SONAR it wouldn't pick it up on scanning if you install to the default location.

I need to remind everyone who are disappointed with TH2 to give the THD amp model a spin! It really acts like one of those little 5 watt class A tube amps that are so popular these days. I have nothing else in my arsenal that does that (I have PodFarm, Guitar Rig 5 Pro, Scuffham S-Gear and Amplitube Free)!

I have 3 amp sims - now that TH2 is included in X2. I'm surprised no one has mentioned PodFarm 2.5.  Although I really like Guitar Rig 5 and its wealth of sounds and I'm just getting used to experimenting with TH2, I get the sounds that sound the most like real stuff out of PodFarm. It's my go to first. My second and frequent alternative is GR5.  I've yet to see or hear anything satisfying from TH2, but I've barely gotten started with it.

Just started playing with TH2 - Producer version was good (nice tones) but got really interested when I installed the full upgrade. Much better selection of presets to get up and running quickly. As suggested above I found TH2 to have much nicer tones for my tele than GR5. I look forward to playing with it a bit more.

I actually enjoy the lack of effects compared to GR5. Good tone first - add the effects for some makeup later. There's plenty of flexibility in SONAR to do that.

Cheers

I dunno...TH2 doesn't seem to be as responsive as GR5. By that I mean, the knobs don't do much.
I turn a knob and nothing much happens...I get much better sounds out of GR5.

So for now I'm sticking with GR5 as my goto.

Maybe It's because I'm new to it, and haven't used it much, but I couldn't get a usable sound out of it.  I'll play around with it some more, maybe I'll find something I like.

I know I've said this before..... when I turn the volume knob half-way on my guitars, GR5 responds more realistically IMO than AmpliTube or TH2. In fact, I like the sound with the volume about on 8 on my guitar. I can get that good AC/DC tone on a Les Paul, A real clean strat sound on my Carvin.

I do think AmpliTube's cleaner sounds are marginally better, sans it doesn't express my pick attack as well.

Try LePou and AcmeBarGig. Worth trying for free.

I love the sound you get when you put vintage synth sounds through some of the guitar presets in GR.
