  • So what's the big deal with take lanes? (p.3)

I guess I could, then again I'm lazy and all for making life easier for myself. I always use the same guage on all my electrics have done for ever so there's no need, I know that info. Same with pick and even I can hear the difference if I've used my fingers.

Speakers are all marked up with tape at their sweet spot, and I usually use a SM57 so no need for that either, but thanks for all the tips. I enjoy learning from a master.

I'm just in awe.... mind you I can hear when something's out of tune, I guess that's a start - so I'm on the long path to greatness....

You always want to turn things in to some type of polarized disagreement with the one liners.

If I were you, I'd be a little more self conscious about double daring me listen to your racket while considering your boast that you know when something is out of tune.

best regards,
mike

Meoow.... I am the untalented one though remember.

It's all good stuff I'm picking up here though, you've nearly convinced me to return to 8.5, in fact I'll dig the disks out now.

Currently seeking advice on whether I should leave my racket up for ridicule or follow the older boys example and throw my toys out my cot.........

I'm not using automation lanes. Though on big projects I can see the advantage.

Take lanes however is tha bomb for me. And I love the suggestion of Fast BikerBoy. I really like to create a solo with a fat synthesizer. And then, when you manipulate the filters, what take will be the fattest. And that is not allways obvious. Sometimes you can't choose but it is important to you to pick the best. So now you can quickly see the best take when you open take lanes. Thank you Cakewalk...

Never better than to grab a beer with the lads after the 5 takes have been done. And then talk nuances with the guys. It is especially important to get a grip on the other 8 songs still to be recorded and gives a view on what cover image should be used and whatnot. The take lanes are quite inspirational tool. And that alone is a tool worth the upgrade price...

Great idea I can just see one of my clips named....

Cream Strat, bridge pickup, through JCM 600 dirty channel, volume 50% gain 40%, bass 75%, Middle 50%, treble 60%, master volume 50%

and another called.....

PRS bridge pickup through, Rockette 30 Overdrive channel, Volume 75%, Gain 40%, Filter 65%.

You're such a simplistic guy Karl.

What's the problem?   I've had clips in the past that were near that long.       No, seriously, I would often name clips too long to be legible (often truncated).

So yeah, as I mentioned previously above I do like the notes portion of track lanes, along with a few other niceties.   The biggest issue I had with layers were the small size when there were more than a few takes, or in my case lots of partial takes, and the somewhat random order that always seemed to happen.    However.... that said, I would really like the ability to resize lanes way beyond what we currently have, both smaller and bigger.    But the fact that we can resize them at all?   That's a big plus in my book.

Yeah I think having more control over resizing them would be great but at least there is some control over them now and that's welcome. I still think the biggest improvement is the removal of "rebuild layers".

Hey Karl,

Did you use layers in THIS SONG?

And if you had lanes would it have been any better?

(see what I did there?)

Bonus question, what were the clip names?
