Lorney - that worked for me. Thanks!!!!! I had tried everything else but kind of lost interest and wasn't about to go **** with the registry. I can see that my registry had DIMENSION 1.1 listed in the DP and DIMENSION PRO folders, but 1.5 is listed under the DPLE folder. I think this is a result of the finicky update we had to follow for the 1.5 upgrade. Anyway, simple fix so thanks for that.

I just found a way to get Rapture to install.
The specific problem I was getting was the Dim Pro error that opened up the browser at the Dim Pro download page and aborted the installation.

I used the updated download file that Ryan had temporarily posted this afternoon and has subsequently been taken down.

I went into the registry and renamed Dimension Pro(by right clicking on the name and selecting rename) to Dimension Gro with the hopes that this might bypass that error and lo and behold it did.

I then ran the install package with Run as Admin and it ran properly and asked for serial number etc.
I opened up Sonar and Rapture was there, and after loading for first time it asked for my Registration number and then worked as advertised.

I then went back to regedit (I had just minimized it during this process) and renamed Dimension Gro back to Dimension Pro.

The location for the regedit entry was (please note that this is on a 64bit machine)
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Cakewalk Music Software\Dimension Pro]
(if you are running on a 32bit machine it Dim Pro entry may be at a different location)

Please note the following cautions:
I am running on a XP Pro 64bit (and X2 is actually working great on it, by the way) so other operating systems may differ.
I had had Dim Pro 1.5 previously installed and did not use the current download.
The installer was  run from the downloaded version that was temporarily available earlier today so I don't know if this would solve the problem with the original Sonar X2 install package.
I was getting the Dimension Pro install error box.

Hopefully this may provide some assistance for Ryan to come up with a solution for a quick fix Rapture install program.

---------------

Thanks, lorneyb2.  This procedure didn't work for me as stated (I'm also on a 64-bit system).  In particular, after just making the registry change suggested above, then trying to install the standalone Rapture installer from yesterday, I got the same Dimension Pro error message.  However, if I went to [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Cakewalk Music Software\Dimension Pro], and also renamed that one "Dimension Gro" in the last part of it, then tried the installation again, it worked.  Since I had both of those renamed when I successfully installed Rapture, I don't know if just renaming [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Cakewalk Music Software\Dimension Pro] would have been sufficient, only that just renaming [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Cakewalk Music Software\Dimension Pro] was not sufficient on my system.  I also did have to use Run as Administrator for starting SONAR to get Rapture to take the download code.  I did not run the Rapture setup as Administrator, and it took the serial number just fine.  Note that I didn't have any previous version of full Rapture on my system, only Rapture LE from earlier versions of SONAR.

I'd actually been thinking about trying something along the same lines as this last night, but with a lot more work involved in it (basically exporting the Dimension entries in the registry, then deleting them from the registry, then doing the installation, then putting the exported entries back), but your version is a lot less work.
For those who don't have the standalone Rapture installer, I'm pretty sure this same method should work for just trying to install Rapture only from the SONAR X2 Producer installation since Ryan had indicated that the separate installer is the same one as bundled into the SONAR installer, just separated out for ease of installation.

Hi Rick.  Glad to see you got it to work.  I only had installed the 64bit version so that is why I only had it in the one location.(Wow6432Node).  I updated my post with your updated info for the location for the 32bit version.

Thanks for the info.

Thanks.  I'm not sure why I'd have had the 32-bit version there if that's the reason for the HKLM/Software/Cakewalk Music Software version, but maybe from some old version installed by something or other.  I am on an x64 machine, and had to install everything fresh when I went x64 as it was an XPx86 to Win7x64 upgrade, which meant a fresh install for most purposes, and I thought I'd only installed the x64 version of SONAR at the time.  I only had Dimension Pro through SONAR, but perhaps it was a 32-bit version at some point even in the x64 version of SONAR or something.

I might not be able to turn around a solution right away for you guys, though I do have one thought in mind I'll reserve for a little bit.

In the meantime, can I get a raise of hands from everyone experiencing problems who owned Rapture beforehand and has a previous Rapture serial number?

Yup, same problems as everyone else here.  I too have the previous full version of Rapture.  But like others, my Rapture install seems to bomb because of the Dim Pro error message that pops up.

I've got both Rapture & Dim Pro running on both of my systems.

Method:

After  installing everything (run as Administrator), there should be a Rapture icon on your desktop.
Run this stand alone AS ADMINISTRATOR and your reg/serial codes should work perfectly

Thanks for this post. Finally got mine working too.

I extracted the bin files to an undisclosed location so they wouldn't be deleted.
Then I right clicked the setup and ran as admin.
Then I ran custom install selecting everything but V studio listings.
At the end I got the Rapture install window.

One hiccup early on was an error window unable to delete some system folder dll. Don't know what that was about so I "ignored" it.

Another was loading a project with Dimension Pro that says it can't be found even though it shows up in the vst listing. Will probably have to reinstall Dim Pro.?.

Everything else seems great so far.

When I downloaded the X2 files from the store I didnt have an X2 icon in front of the files. I only had a white paperlike icon there. Nothing would start. I deleted them all and started the download again. Now I got the X2 icon on all the files. I installed them and han no problems whatsoever. I went to the desktop and started dem pro and rapture under administrator and could put in the reg nr. Everything went smooth after that.
