Hi Everyone,
I met with a few folks internally today and an official update to the stand-alone Rapture 1.2.2 installer is in the works for you folks. There are actually a variety of things for us to look into based off various reports, so as all things official it will most likely take a little bit of time (but hopefully not too much!).
A few things I should probably make clear since the reports we're getting vary a bit. These are the two biggest issues we're encountering:
1) If you are inserting Rapture but it doesn't list a serial number in the registration dialog, you're inserting the old version of Rapture which means you have owned it and installed it in the past. You probably have multiple Rapture components in your VST list, so try going through each one to see if you can locate the new one. The 1.2.2 installer installs a Rapture x64.dll component, whereas your old one might be named Rapture.dll. The 1.2.2 installer with X2 does NOT install a DirectX version of Rapture. When you're inserting Soft Synths in SONAR, there is a divider that separates your DirectX instruments (on the top) from your VST Instruments (on the bottom). Try inserting the instance of Rapture at the bottom, most likely it will be labeled "Rapture 64".
When it comes to repairing the serial number field for the other instances, an easy solution rather then diving into your registry is to simply run the full Rapture 1.2.1 installer followed by the free 1.2.2 update again. You can enter your serial number in the installer and fix the missing registry entry. When doing this, you would be required to use your old Rapture serial number. In the meantime, until we have the official update worked out, this might be in your better interest. Anyone with a valid Rapture purchase should be able to access this from their discs or from the Cakewalk store (if purchased as a download). If you're having trouble getting the installer and know you have an old serial number, send me a PM or give us a ring.
2) If you are getting a message that says, "The installer has detected that a previous version of Dimension Pro is currently installed...", then you must still have registry keys from a prior Dimension Pro 1.0 or 1.2 installation. This could be from a separate Dimension Pro purchase or from a SONAR 8 or SONAR 8.5 purchase. There are several possible registry keys you might have on your system. As follows:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Cakewalk Music Software\Dimension Pro
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Cakewalk Music Software\dp
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Cakewalk Music Software\Dimension Pro
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Cakewalk Music Software\dp
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Wow6432Node\Cakewalk Music Software\Dimension Pro
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Wow6432Node\Cakewalk Music Software\dp
This check was intended for the latest version of Dimension Pro 1.5, but it was obviously not intended for Rapture. If you're in this predicament, and are comfortable with the registry, as some users have pointed out you can temporarily rename these keys. The ones you would want to concern yourselves which end in "Dimension Pro", so you could rename them "Dimension Pro backup" as such:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Cakewalk Music Software\Dimension Pro backup
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Cakewalk Music Software\Dimension Pro backup
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Wow6432Node\Cakewalk Music Software\Dimension Pro backup
Afterwards, you can run the Rapture installer at the end of the X2 installer and when it's complete rename the keys back.
3) For Rapture to accept the registration code, you must Run as Administrator by right-clicking on the Rapture microhost or the SONAR icon and selecting "Run as Administrator". This is normal for the registration process with Rapture and Dimension Pro.
I hope in some way that helps for the time being. Thank you everyone for your willingness to tackle this, send me private messages, and all of your patience while we get it squared away. If anyone needs hand with any of this directly, feel free to give us a ring so we can get you squared away in the meantime. I have shared this with all of our folks internally so they can guide you through the process of getting it set up if needed.
