Just thought I'd throw in an unrelated(?) word of warning about removing previous versions of DimPro and Rapture on your system. Guitarpima mentioned removing the old versions.

I did this a while back because I had the LE, 32, and 64-bit versions of DimPro on my system, and each one had installed its own multisample folder which was taking a ton of space. I decided to remove all but the 64-bit version.

Well, long story short... every project I had used DimPro in now tells me that DimPro can't be found, which was somewhat expected. Unfortunately I had assumed the 'replace synth' function that came out with X1 would allow me to swap the synth to the 64bit version and quickly get back up to speed, so I wasn't worried at the time. However, when I 'replace synth' it seems to work fine, but there is no sound despite endless tweaking. I have to create a new instance of DimPro and drag the midi data to the new track, which I can actually work with.

The problem and absolute worst part is that even though I have my midi data playing in DimPro, I have to go back and guess which patch I used on every instance in every project. DimPro patch data is not stored in the project file. I started dealing with this months ago and I'm still dealing with it today. I use/used DimPro a lot, so it's not been fun.  Now I save the patch names of my softsynths in the track inspector notes so I have some sort of record.

Anyway, sorry to jump in, but hopefully it might prevent someone from repeating my mistake...

I'm not sure I have the same problem as some other people in this forum.  I'm running a 32 bit pc and most of these comments seem to relate to the 64 bit version not installing, and problems with Dimension pro.

I never got any errors with dimension pro, I just ran as administrator, put in the code, and it all works fine.

With Rapture it will not accept the code.  The serial number is blank.  I have tried a second custom install and then run the stand alone application as administrator, and the serial number is still blank.

I seem to have 2 versions of rapture loaded in the VST folder.  One is in the VST folder itself, and then I have a sub folder call rapture and there's an exe file and dll file in there too.  In the registry I seem to have a rapture entry and one called rp.  The rp entry contains the correct serial number and code whereas the 'rapture' entry does not.

I'm happy to try editing the registry but I don't know what I need to do.  I guess I have the option of uninstalling X1 and X2 and starting again (would that even work?).

Trying to register online shows it as already being registered.

Any ideas?

I hope the patch for Rapture also fixes DimPro, that's a mess too
Seems the installs & patches for both have created (and not created) different versions in different directories
I understand leaving the 32 bit stuff to prevent "Not found", but I don't get why I don't have a 64 bit Rapture at all after running the install, and the 1.22 patch returns a message saying it can't find 1.1 (after I run it & ask for 64 bit)

Same problem here, Rapture full version will not install.
It appears the apprentice "baker" charged with creating the Rapture installer cut a few corners and tweaked the Dim Pro installer instead of creating a new one for Rapture. Sloppy coding. As a programmer for 30 some years, I know no one likes writing install scripts. However, re-using another installer rarely works out as planned. Is it too much to ask, to have the bakers create a new installer from scratch? This blunder has to have cost Cake much more than they saved. To say nothing of the wasted time and frustration we users had to endure.

Yeah, I sent in a feature request back for Guitar Rig 4 LE, which clobbered my Guitar Rig 4
I said - check to see if it's there, if it is - ask me - do I install over it
A yes/no response - not too difficult
Let's hope they get it right this time

Eureka! I got around to following the instructions in this thread about the regedit fix and the registration instructions and... drum roll,PLEASE,........IT WORKED!!! I was very apprehensive about messing with the registry but I must say-it went flawlessly! Thank all of you guys for your diligence in figuring this quagmire out. I don't use synths like Rapture very much, but that stance may change. Thanks, again, fellas!
P.S.-For those who don't know, if your registration area is blocked out in Rapture, right click on the icon and click, Run as administrator. That will clear the area to type in your reg number!

I had only one issue on my X2 Producer installation - after the install Rapture 1.2.2 did not accept the registration code provided. After reading through the forum and getting some insight, I did the following and it worked fine thereafter: 1. I reinstalled Rapture 1.2 from my original set of files from X1 and used my previous Rapture serial number. 2. I applied the Rapture 1.2.2 update available on the Cakewalk site. Now everything works fine, I'm just using my previous Rapture serial number and reg code, rather than the new one that came with X2. It took just a couple minutes to install and I didn't need to hunt through the registry to do anything.
