About to show my stupidity here.
I have the Echo Layla3G-for about 2 years now. So I havce a conflict with another program so I am trying to track it down.
Question: Since Echo only has WDM drivers how is it that my settings are Asio in Sonar X1, and X2 and 853 also? Is Asio just a Mode and not a real divice driver? I mean I have the asio control panel and everything. Tod you it was a dumb question. If I do switch to WDM\KS I only get stereo at 44.1 and the drivers are listed as Wavert (the new win deal)
Thanks

If that is true, then your sound card has WDM drivers and ASIO drivers written for it

As far as your concern about it only being 44.1 in WDM mode, im not familiar with that card, but i would think that card can do 48 and 96kHz. Its 2012.

Sorry,

I have a Layla G3 (don't use it but it's installed). The manual says it uses (and prefers) ASIO and that's what I have it set to. The only problem I had with it was the fact it is old school PCI and my MOBO doesn't have native PCI support (bridged). After optimizing the system it seemed to work fine under ASIO. Make sure you have the latest driver from Echo's website. Cheers.

BTW, Cakewalk tech support helped me get it working (I used the Sweetwater system optimization guide) and I've heard Echo support is pretty decent. Someone here told me that they had been testing the units with PCI to PCIe adapters and that they were running well but Cake support said even though they didn't have any knowledge of that I should probably avoid it. I ended up just buying a Focusrite Scarlett 18i6 and couldn't be happier with it.

If it's any help driver modes do vary for devices. My ZED-R16 has a total of up to 24 in/out via ASIO. IN WDM mode the most I can access is eight.   Needless to say I don't use WDM mode in Sonar but as I understand it Windows can't use ASIO only the WDM drivers hence the name.

I could be completely off the mark though.

Maybe I should mention that my Layla is a really old one. I got it about 7 years ago. They may have changed some stuff.

Hmmmm? First. the cardhas worked perfectly, my question is about Asio drivers. So..even thought the Echo installer says it's wdm drivers it is also installing Asio? That seems weird. That's why I thought maybe Asio was a mode.

OK-Just confused-Sonar definitely uses Asio-I have been for years. The issue, as I stated is with a different app. Just trying to find the conflict
Thanks Guys

ASIO mode only allows one soundcard to be used at a time.
