  • [SOLVED]!!! BIG bug - Instant crashing of Sonar after switching tracks and buses (p.2)

I must admit I had this yesterday, I never said anything because I was really just experimenting on older X1 projects, I also had crashes when dragging custom made PC FX chains from the browsers into the PC.

The crashes were just a complete shut down of X2, no warning dialogue boxes, no blue or white screens, the program literally just closed instantly without warning.

Ive got an album to mix next week, so I will be starting fresh projects in X2 and it will give me a better idea of whats going on with long term stability while using X2!

another post yesterday said his amplitude instruments were causing crashes until he ran X2 as administrator... i'm trying that today since I had 3 crashes yesterday, one that black screened the computer. Not high ram or resources used, but many vsts/vstis.  Amplitube TRacks, Add Drums, Z3ta+2...

FYI, rt click the prog link, go to properties, compatibility and at the bottom you can check 'run as admin..." so it always opens in that mode.

not sure if dim pro and rapture need the same treatment but I noticed many folks who needed to install those progs as admin.

Someone from cakewalk should really respond to this bug. It is almost impossible to work fluently with such a bug. Thanks

Hey guys,

Our team is investigating this issue right now.  Those of you who experience this in any reproducible way:  would you mind reporting the steps here?:

http://www.cakewalk.com/support/contact/problemreport.aspx

It will help us keep track of reports and scenarios.  And ultimately, it will help us get it fixed faster.  Thanks.

this is what sucks about being a software developer. the reward for months of a relentless, social-life-sucking product launch, is ... more, now super critical, intense and thankless work (weekends included)! hahaha.

you guys rock. thanks for what you do.

now, get these bugs fixed so that you can starting working on my pre-buffering-oriented scheduling model mode for the audio engine, and i'll switch to Sonar 100%, be your fiercest promoter. :-)

and, if you're gonna code on the weekend at least keep a good bottle of single malt nearby. :-)

(we should start a developer single malt fund, i think.)

That's 2 good ideas from you: scheduling model and a single malt fund.  I like the latter best, personally.

Not sure if this is relevant or not (was in another post I did earlier in the year), but I never had Aero turned on in windows when I had the crashes, not had once since I turned it on again, however I haven't really been pushing X2 yet.

Just a thought :-)

EDIT: I also switched to "Run this program as administrator" as mentioned above.

I can confirm this bug as well. i7 920 using Windows 7 x64, X2 x64. I filled out the form from the above link. Just for the record, X1d was very solid...

EDIT: Just to add, that disappearing PCh is happening on my end as well. I know I read it in a thread but figured I'd add it here.

Not in front of my machine right now, but from memory:

I opened the new demo file (the one installed with the 'Additional Tools').
I muted the first track (Mixdown)
Then pressed play.
Opened the main vocal track
Opened the lanes for it
I then clicked on meter face of the the compressor in the pro channel (the one with the screw under it that can change it from white to blue).  It caused an instant hang that required I close sonar.

Did it again but could not repeat it.

I don't thing it would help to open a ticket if I could not reproduce it at will...
