The SWA vid' has way more info in it than I ever expected to see in a video lesson!

Thanks RuffRider..

As well as the new to X2 functions, I tried to cover all the stuff that comes up on here regularly as well as some of the more unusual areas. The "How to write an instrument file" tutorial is one that comes to mind that I've not seen before.

I wanted to come up with something informative that covers the obvious but also the not so obvious material, hopefully that comes across. The length of it was a result of the material covered not something that was planned.

I knew it was quite long but I was actually shocked when Chris told me it was over nine hours...

Eli is a great explainer, a rare and wonderful thing.

Just to give one of our own a boost, I got FBB's instead, and am very impressed with Karl's work. I may still pick up Eli's while the sale is on. Both are worth every penny.

One thing, though--I probably wouldn't have gotten FBB's if I had known it was one big file. I agree with everyone about the quality of information, but one big file is inconvenient. Having the chapters neatly broken into separate files the way Groove 3 commonly does it makes it easier for me to play them on a variety of devices (such as my smartphone).

Thanks for the kind words Grem and John I missed your posts initially somehow.

Thanks also KeithAdv. I'm sure Chris will see your feedback ref the file size here but I'll make sure I pass them on just in case.

I have never tried it but aren't there freeware programs out there where you could edit the file into whatever size you want to accomplish it being on say a smartphone?

Never thought of this! I could put it on my iPhone (iThink!) and watch at work or on the road. I may have to give this a try.

The USB key thing would be easier, but some may not be able to do this at work.

Yes, I love to do stuff like that. I figure if I have to be stuck in an airport, I can at least finally learn how to use audiosnap!

Karl's video is brilliant on QuickTime, where you can select chapters. But I like to throw stuff on my phone or sometimes watch it via Plex on my tv. So, even though I can reduce the file. I'm much too lazy to try to slice it into the respective chapters and that's the problem.

However, I might be a minority of one on this. I have a couple of SWA videos and they are always one big file. I have the Groove3 X1 tutorial and I had an access pass there for a while--and I like G3 approach of one file per chapter. Seems more efficient; less fast-forwarding.

Hi FastBikerBoy aka Karl,

I am having some major frustration with the download of your SWA for X2 video. The download size of 2.86Gig is to too large for my internet connection. My download was interrupted and stopped at 2.6 gig and on 2nd triad interrupted at 2.84 gig. I am sure it is possible to split the file into 2 or 3 separate download. I think CW should be more considerate towards customer like me from a foreign country where our internet speed is no match to USA. It would take me 7 hours to download a file of this size and getting interrupted when your download is almost completed is not fun. Can you bring this up to CW or send me a another link?

Thanks for your help in advance.

Hi, sorry you're having trouble with the download. I have little control over distribution but I'll certainly contact Chris at SWA for you.

Are you downloading from his site or the Cakewalk Store? I doubt there's much he can do about it if it's from Cakewalk but I'll see what I can do for you. Let me know where you're trying to get it from and I'lll see if I can sort something out for you.

Hey Karl
I loved your video as  I said before. I am watching it at work on lunch hour.....I'm 4 hours into it.....LOVE IT.

But I have to agree (but it is a SWA Thing , not yours)
They really do need to break it up a bit. and split the video into their own chapters.

This is where Groove 3 has their act together......I like the way they have things in chapteres.....very easy to navagate....

Just my two cents worth........
but it will not stop me from a purcahse if I thought I could learn from it.

I don't have these videos but have videos from both. I like them both but Groove3 is better in that they seperate the different sections by video rather than one long video from SWA. That's the only drawback about SWA. If you want to go back to a certain section, you have to search around for it.
