Hi im having an issue when recording when i play the bass using 2 tracks left and right making it a stereo and route it into a sub bus and have that sub bus sent to master bus both my master bus and sub busses arent showing any sounds, but if i record and play back it shows movement with the master bus and sub busses but only if recorded and played back...i just want to be able to see movement in the meters when tracking...anyone have any ideas whats happening? im using a cakewalk UA25 audio device and SONAR X1 with the d update

I suggest reading the, "Getting Started," help file, on your Sonar Menus...

I'm not sure I'm following correctly. Are you saying the meters work okay while recording & playing back but not while the transport is idle?

If that is the case the audio engine is off while the transport is idle. You can change that behaviour by going to prefs-->audio-->playback and recording and check "Play effect tails after stopping transport" (or something like that I'm working from memory)

If that isn't what you mean you'll need to be a little clearer.

maybe I did not understand the question either, so I have edited my post a little

the reason for it is that the incoming audio thats being recorded to the track, will only show on that track meter, not the bus or master, once the files are recorded in sonar, and you play back, the signal will then be sent from the tracks to the sub bus and master, not while recording tho , while recording its being written to disk, so there will be no out put from that channel till playback, i wouldnt be concerned about sub busses or master bus till mixing

yes, when i'm recording and the track is routed to a bus, there is no action with the meters on that bus when tracking, just during playback, if i remember it always did show meters working before..im a bit of a noob here when it comes to recording, i just don't want to peak in the busses ect...what i am noticing is i only see the meters working if i press input echo, but i'm wondering if that creates any latency during tracking having that selected? (i have it checked play effects tales after stopping) and yes the audio engine is on...its always been my understanding to route tracks to buses saving me valuable resources in plugins as i kind of do a sloppy mix as i'm tracking...i've never had to press input echo when tracking to hear my bass or guitar correctly during basic tracking...i hope i'm making myself a bit more clearer...thanks in advance!

During recording, your track meters will show. During playback, all meters will show. That's normal operation as sonar does not control the recording signal, only the playback signal

it wont peak at the busses cuz you control how much level is sent to the sub from the tracks, id be more concerned about clipping you tracks while recording, like i said dont worry about busses till your mixing, and yes the input echo can add a delay !!
