  • X2 - How to keep metronome from recording?

I'm using X2 with Win7, and my interface is an Echo Audio Gina24. When I try using the metronome for recording, it actually records the clicks to the track, instead of just going to my headphones. I tried changing the routing for the metronome in about every way I could think of, but nothing worked, but I'm not very experienced with this stuff, so there's probably something I overlooked. Anybody have any ideas about how to fix this?

Cant recall exactly, but I had this once, think it was insert a bus and call it click or similar then go to preferences metronome, audio metronome and select output to click, the click bus should be routed to your main out but you've bypassed the track your recording on. Hope thats correct.

Have you switched off "Metronome During Playback"?

I wouldn't be surprised if it's the way you have your audio interface routed. I can't think of a way to record the metronome other than routing it back from the interface.

Thanks for the suggestions - they got me to digging around some more. Turns out the problem was buried in the interface driver, in a screen I rarely come across - it's not part of the usual settings. There is an option for 'Direct ASIO 2.O Monitoring' that was turned on. I turned it off, and bingo, problem solved.

That's good news for the people that have been trying to record the metronome but didn't find an effective way.
