So you guys don't drag and drop clips between tracks?

I have 2 tracks with 3 takes each of the same instrument, recorded on different days.

I decide to use bits of both and to have them all in the same track
So, I have to create a new lanes, and then drag the clips to the new lanes.

It should be that I can drag the clips to the track "header" and a new lane created with the clip. This does not happen after the lanes have been expanded/minimized.

AND::: when the lanes are minimized, and if the copy settings are set to "replace," the copied clip(s) are placed on the first lane erasing all the clips in all lanes.  I understand the replacing, but it would be best for clarity to have the new clip in its own lane.

========================================

AND:: Since lanes are sorta little brother tracks, they should be copyable/movable to other tracks

Actually I can see your point, I'm just not sure I would want a default of creating a new lane, not after all this time of dropping a clip onto a track behaving the way it has behaved. Might be nice to have a drag+key option for that.  :  )

Pre-X2: drop a clip on a track and a layer is created.

Lanes are the new layers. (Only better and more space using.)

Hence, a new lane should be created.

This is way important given a minimized track does clearly indicate when mulitple lanes exist in the track.
