Hi. I would love to hear from anyone using the Motu 828 Mk3 with Win7 and Sonar x1. I am inclined to purchase one but am unsure as to the stability of the drivers. I found several old threads complaining about the drivers on the Motu board but nothing recent.

If anyone could let me know their experience I would appreciate it greatly.

Thanks!
Bruce.

I have been using a MOTU 828mk3 hybrid for about a year or so.  No problems with the drivers at all and I am using 64bit Win7.  I am using the firewire port, but the USB port gets the same performance; I had hoped that the firewire port would be faster than the USB port, but they have the same latencies.  Here is a link to a thread I had about this: http://forum.cakewalk.com/tm.aspx?m=2313456 .  I had been using a M-Audio FW1814, but it was not too stable.  The MOTU is definitely better.  One drawback that I have experienced is that the Cue Mix software that is used for routing is not intuitive at all.  I had to watch their video several times to figure it out.  The only other issue is that while it has two headphone outs, one of them is dedicated to be parallel to the main outs; the other can be assigned to be its own out, or to parallel any of the analog outs.  I do not use their internal DSP and can't comment about it.  You should know that MOTU is not great about notifying us of updates for their drivers; I watch the various forums to see when they are updated, which just happened again a couple of weeks ago; so you need to be proactive to check for driver updates
 A number of persons on this forum use 828's.  So hopefully some of them will give their views.

using X1 Expanded with a Motu 828 Mk3 hybrid on Win 7 64-bit here

the MOTU with my system is rock-solid, i cant recommend it enough, ive had no issues at all with it and ive had it about a year and use it almost daily

plus the latest release of the CueMix software now supports TouchOSC

depending on your setup this may also come in handy, kinda pricey but i just love the thing, if you call Musicians Friend and Sweetwater, qoute em each others prices on the MOTU 828 back and forth, the salespeople will work with you to get you a bottom price, do that and you may save enough to get the LevelPilot as well

I owned a MK2.  When I first go it the drivers were buggy as hell, but they frequently update and it became impressively stable.  Preamps are nothing to write home about, but it is a very good piece of hardware
