I just hooked up Focusrite VRM Box - I get sound from it outside of Sonar (eg, playig back a song in SoundForge) but iside Sonar, I cannot yet get a sound.

I have the S/PDIF from my Ulralite OUT, to the S/PDIF In on the VRM, and hook headphones up to the VRM.  The song plays back in Sonar, but I hear nothing.  The master OUT in Sonar goes to Focusrite USB ASIO - there is no other choice actually.  I imagined it would still send out to the Ultralite ...

...anyway ... has anyone had simialr problems or would know what I have done wrong in set up?

Thanks

I, too, have the VRM...

I use a Quad Capture...

I'll let you know if I have any issues after I get my download and install today...

If you have the VRM hooked to the outs on your MOTU then you'll need to set the outputs of your master to the MOTU.

Go to Preferences>Devices and set your playback timing out to the MOTU. That should do it.

I've used my VRM box with both a Focusrite Saffire Pro 40 and now with a Roland Octa-Capture.  As noted whatever device you have the VRM connected to must be the output device in Sonar.

+1...yeah ...I didn't read close enough...if you're hooked to the Motu S/PDIF out then you need to be using the Motu
ASIO...not the Focusrite...

That's what Thought too.  But when I go to Edit - Preferences -   only the Focusrite is available to choose.  The MOTU is greyed out.
When I take the S/PDIF out of the VRM, then I get sound.   Hmmm ... I guess that means the MOTU is somehow not sending through the S/PDIF OUT?

Is the Motu USB / Firewire plugged in?  If not then it won't be usable...

Kinda stating the obvious...but ya never know....LOL

I have both the VRM and the Quad plugged in...and use the S/PDIF out on
the Quad to the S/PDIF in on the VRM...

Yep, I have the MOTU on, and its S/PDIF OUT to VRM S/PDIF IN.

Is it possible MOTU is sending anything OUT via the S/PDIF OUT?   I don't really understand this Ultralite so well ... :-/

There may be a setting on the Ultralite that enables the S/PDIF...don't know...
Go to the Motu ASIO control panel and see if there is an S/PDIF option there..

Everything seems set OK on the MOTU Ultralite - just wondering if the MOTU i sending out at 96KHz and VRM only accepts 44 or 488 ... hmmm ...
