Resolved potential instability in 32-bit SONAR when switching between tracks and buses with projects containing the ProChannel version of BREVERB or the Console Emulator modules

What does that mean for those of us seeing that exact same problem in 64-bit SONAR?

I was wondering the very same thing. It seems odd that only the 32 bit version would have been addressed.

I use 64bit and did some pretty extensive tests in my X2 Test project by looping a 22 track soft synth affair. Over an hour of continuous play while adding more modules to the PC strips, expanding and collapsing, moving around all over the place.

In that time I had zero crashes and zero PC glitches.

With the new HotFix installed?

Yes.

However, another poster reckoned he was having a problem with crashing the new build when moving effects around from a bus bin to a track bin. I tried to emulate the problem and I eventually got X2 to crash by moving R-Mix from a track bin to a bus bin while my project was playing.

The fault reporter popped up and I sent that into Cakewalk.

On a positive note, I tried that exercise with other plug-ins and I couldn't get X2 to crash, so it might be something to do with the more CPU hungry plug-ins, like R-Mix.

And, I don't think that I would normally move plug-ins around as much as I did for that test, so I still think I have a reasonably stable system at the moment...

+1  I've been away for the last week, but saw these issues before I left, in 64 bit.

I haven't installed the patch, as it said it only addressed the 32 bit.  Should I install?  Will it help?

The crash was more likely to occur in 32 bit hence the wording of the message. It could also occur on some X64 systems however. X64 has a habit of masking crashes when they are triggered by the user interface, so you won't always see them. The fix addresses ALL issues that could cause this kind of crash in both 32 bit and 64 bit, so it should definitely be fixed for you. Based on logs, the same crash could occur intermittently under a variety of seemingly unrelated operations (file save, bounce, VVocal) so you should definitely get this fix as a stability update.

I used X2 last night for about 6 hours with many console emulator and RMIX instances with lots of editing and moving and reordering plugins around and it was rock solid though the session.

Lucky you then Noel. I've sent off three fault reports this afternoon, and that was after having around two hours of "rock solid" performance last night with a large test project I've got on the go.

This is with the the quick fix or prior to it?
