Why are we being so generic in this thread? Just say what you mean and say who you are talking about. This thread has the potential to cause a lot of hard feelings because it's so generic it really could apply to any one of us except Bapu and one or two others ...

Reading your 'Disclaimer' Danny, I personally didn't feel like your post was directed at me, but it's so generic and broad, maybe it was and I'm too slow to pick up on it? LOL!

You carefully crafted it to make almost anyone who reads it feel that if they aren't perfect in your eyes, they are a D. Head, and I feel like it has the potential to do more harm than good. For example @ space_cowboy ... it's hard to tell if you were serious or not, there was no smiley so I'm assuming you had some genuine concern over what Danny said. FWIW I've never seen you do anything out of line here.

There's a difference between taking this place seriously like Bapu does, and how you do Danny ... you really do need to take it a little less seriously or you're going to have a breakdown. I mean, if the thought has ever even entered your mind about taking your anger out verbally on someone in front of you over what someone said on the forums here ... you really need to take a step back and think about that for your own well being.

Personally, I don't see myself as an instigator. But maybe others do, so Mike, I will think more about my posts before I fire them off. If you guys knew me in person and heard my tone of voice when I speak, you would know 99% of the time I'm laughing and almost everything that comes out of my mouth is a joke or empty candy wrapper. LOL! There is that 1% of the time though that I admit, I have a very dark side. But I try to keep that guy locked away as much as I can. :)

Things will never change until we all stop hiding behind the anonymity of the internet;

We do not know the person on the other end, so anything we say is ok.

I don't read this forum frequently so I could be wrong here, but it seems to me some of the people that complain most about the civility or lack there of, are in fact some of the worst offenders.

I won't mention names, but one well known forum member told me to 'get out of the country', for my anti-war beliefs. (I wonder if that would have been said if he knew I have two purple hearts fighting for this country)

We have to understand that words hurt; and if Jon's post of last night was an indication, people are truly impacted by what we say on this forum.

I hope we all keep this in mind.

Nicely said Danny,

Trouble is I suspect those that need to read it never will.  Either they could never find there way down here or we are beneath them.

And some may think Danny is just another guitar slinger.

Yeah, all kidding aside, this forum is a big part of my life (+1's and all). I've met some truely wonderful people here. You all know who you are so I won't blow smoke up yer tailpipe. But I will say that even McQ makes me laugh.

You have a life?

Yes
No
Maybe

I'll get back to you on that.

A really interesting topic. But I'm not going to bite. Just wanted to say that I enjoyed reading you Danny and though we may be a generation/culture/language away, I really do hear you. Nice to read about some honest feelings about something that is important to you and others as well (silent majority). It takes "bolas" to publicly talk about such things.

Who was it!? I'll report him for you!

Nice post Danny. I think if generally people just "thought" first before they did anything, there would be less of miscommunications and more of reasonable/rational conclusions. Most of the time people tend to speak/type/text from an emotional standpoint and end up unnecessarily over dramatizing a particular topic. Moderation in all things may be a good remedy or simply just.......

As someone who actually used to do a nightly standup routine most of which was improv there is a deep seated part of me that understands and, on occasion, even attaches to some of the shot-from-the-hip-in-the-heat-of-battle caustic remarks that some folks (OK, mostly JT) makes.  And since I'm generally (but not always) not the target of them I find them funny...even the really hateful ones.  Mind, I don't approve of them at all...nor would I even if I was the one making them...which I diligently try not to do.  But sometimes...well...you know...

And the thing is...even if they were (or are) directed at me...I still think them funny.  And sad.  And telling.

I also try to be a fair witness.  One who when asked "what color is that house over there?" would answer..."well, this side is white...don't know about the others".

But more often than not when I'm on the forum I'm either getting actual help, being entertained very inexpensively...or walking what's left of my wits.

Rock on, me droogies.  Rock on.

I've been anti-war since 1969; my own family members have told me to leave the country.
