I loaded up T4 to see what it's about.  Not bad really.  I find the latency with sims a bit too much, but overall not bad.  Especially for a free DAW.  I still think Reaper for $60 is a better value.

Updating this thread with a warning...
Tracktion doesn't work with Toontrack products very well. Both my EZDrummer and EZKeys eventually fail to work within the shell. Meaning that the mouse will eventually fail to trigger a preview sound from within the Toontrack shell, and I have to reset the audio engine often.
I sent a message to Tracktion support , they said they're not very familiar with EZD2, and said I should try the windows drivers instead of ASIO. No thanks.
It's hard to believe that daw makers are not familiar with Toontrack. I have issues with Mixbus 3.1 and Toontrack too.
It's nice to try some of these other daws. I like to switch environments from time to time for fun, but it sure makes me appreciate Sonar. Sonar works.

Color scheme is awkward.  Maybe Toontrack stuff says "we're outta here" with this horrible color scheme.

With only very limited use, EZD2 appears to be working fine with T4 here.  Overall latency is a bit too much for me though.

Mine will work fine for a while...then it starts acting as described above. I did notice a new beta for T7 is now available. Maybe that has fixed a few things. Overall I like it. It in no way compares with Sonar, but I like it.

So far so good with the new beta. Seems to be better. (Fingers crossed)

My experience is they jump on bugs with Cockos-like speed. I don't have T7 yet but should have it in hand in a couple days.

I think my co-conspirator dmbaer scored the real prize, their new morphing, sample-based synth biotek. That one's pretty cool (the audio demos don't do it justice). I think it may have appeal to the now-jilted fans of Alchemy.
