Stability wise X2 has been much worse than X1 ever was for me and.  I'm running under the Win8 preview though, so that may have something to do with it

I think that's an unfair assessment. Windows 8 is not a finished product. That's like saying "My new Honda runs slow... could be because they haven't put the engine in it yet."

Apparently you missed the highlighted part.  Care to explain why X1 doesn't suffer the same problems though under the same OS?

I'm sure a patch or Quick Fix (remember those?) is right around the corner.
Well, you're right on there Bub...
That was dumb luck. I got the email that they just released a Quickfix, probably not even an hour after I posted that.

Here's what gets me about this, X1 is doing the same thing. Why couldn't they have put out a QuickFix for it and some of the other major bugs? Why can't they still do that? A Quick Fix is a half baked patch, there's no guarantee it's going to work ... it's a 'quick fix' and not thoroughly tested, that's their own words ... so why not throw something like that out for X1 and say, "Here, if it works great, if not, hey, we tried." Oh well, beating a dead horse.

There is no way anyone is going to tell me that Cakewalk magically found a cure for this disappearing module problem that's spanned two releases, less than a week after the second release ...

I wouldn't bother.
What's the point of having it when it just crashes all the time.
If you bought a new tv and it kept stalling you would be straight back to the shop with it.
I installed it last night and just gave up after it crashed every 45 mins.
My pc is within recommended specs , 4gb ram quad core.
All of the recommended tweaks to OS and background services done.
X1 was fine when I upgraded from 8.5.3 to x1 expanded.
I think I will be asking for a refund and going reaper or cubase.
I don't think I have ever been happy with sonar as its workflow is just not suited for making music creatively. I have been patient, expected basic common sense changes in x1, which sort of happened, then read good things about x2 workflow improvements. However, all that just becomes insignificant when, ermm it crashes all the time.

Linear Phase
Sonar is an amazing product..   Cubase and Reaper crash just as much...  I used cubase when I was learning.. 7 years ago, and I've got a Reaper license....

I find Sonar to, "get a bad rap," cause it professional software, and people who have, "no idea what they are doing," tend to blame all their problems on it....

I'm still using X1, but the moment I have a quick $99, I will jump to X2..  :-)

Reaper 64 has not crashed once on me ever on the system, but x2 does.
X1d never crashed either.
I began to like sonar x1d which is why I upgraded, but one slight problem, x2 doesn't work. I have been producing for 22 years on various platforms. I am also run an it consultancy so have some idea what I am doing I hope.

Good luck with the upgrade linear. I hope you can use it for longer than 20 mins at a time.

I didn't miss it and I don't care to evaluate Sonar on an unreleased operating system. Have you tried it on the RTM version of Windows 8?

There is a little bit of instability in this release, but it is far and away the best release yet.  I ran it all day in the studio today with paying clients and had one crash, but I was saving often, so no biggie.  (Looks like there's already a patch for this, but I can't seem to get to it tonight)
But the work-flow was just awesome.  I just found everything so much more natural and intuitive.  I am sure that X2 will be the best release yet.  X1 did take a couple of patches to be solid and we'll probably need a patch or two to see the best in X2, but I'm already sold on it.
