I'm afraid there's nothing in TH2 that would encourage me to shell out another $99 for the upgrade. Same with Breverb.
For freebies they're OK but I don't usually use LE type programs.

With all the hardware and software I already have, if I can't get the sound I want/need then I won't get by buying another plugin.
What I did spend money on was the Vegas 12 Pro upgrade because they've updated some of the Sony audio plugins that come with it to full 64bit and SONAR can use them. No more need for a DX shell now.

Well we'll have to agree to disagree. I had a realistic sound immediately from TH2. GR5 took forever to dial in and even then I found it wasn't doing what I wanted. I'm just annoyed I shelled out $100 for the GR upgrade before they announced TH2 Producer.

Beep this is my assessment as well. I dialed in a tone that was good and usable in no time. This is not the same experience I had with Pod Farm or GR 5. and GR 4........... well forget about it...the fizz in that program was too much for me.

I can't wait to get the time to try the IR function. Now that I am kind of use to the program I can find the sound that will work easy enough. I really love the full version. At least for me it works great

I have X2 installed - I like the TH2 lite version, and I might upgrade.

Other opinions about guitar efx plug-ins?

Are there any that have a true harmonizer effect?

There are two Harmonizer effects. They are available in the full version. The link below shows you everything in the full version.

Pitch
Pitch Shift A no-frills pitch shifter
Octaver A better-than-the-original (tracks better the input pitch) model of a classic brown stomb box

Neither of these qualify as a true harmonizer.

The OP may be looking for something else, I can't speak for them, but a pitch shifter is not a harmonizer as it remains at a static interval and is incapable of playing proper intervals in a given key/mode.

True harmonizers are very hard to find - especially in software.

Looks like none of the guitar plug-ins are there yet.

Maybe I misunderstood the original question or the intent of the original question. So let me make it simple. According to music theory an interval is the distance between two notes. There are two types of intervals. Melodic (which are two notes played at different times) and Harmonic (which are two notes played at the same time) When two notes are played at the same time we call that a harmony...ok now it gets better......

When two singers sing the same note at the same time we call that a harmony or we say they can harmonize. When it comes to the definition of Harmonizers Wikipedia has this to say

"A harmonizer is a type of pitch shifter that combines the altered pitch with the original pitch to create a two or more note harmony. Some hamonizers are able to create chorus-like effects by adding very tiny shifts in pitch.
Pitch shift effects: DigiTech WhammyElectro-Harmonix POG."

A pitch shifter is different this is What Wikipedia says about that,

Pitch shifter and harmonizer: A pitch shifter raises or lowers (e.g. "transposes") each note a performer plays by a pre-set interval. For example, a pitch shifter set to increase the pitch by a fourth will raise each note four diatonic intervals above the notes actually played. Simple pitch shifters raise or lower the pitch by one or two octaves, while more sophisticated devices offer a range of interval alterations.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Effects_unit

So you see the definition of a harmonizer is a pitch shifter that combines the altered pitch with the original pitch thus creating a harmony,.....Ta Da.....

Now.....The original question was "I have X2 installed - I like the TH2 lite version, and I might upgrade. Other opinions about guitar efx plug-ins? Are there any that have a true harmonizer effect?"

The Answer is.....YES!! In the full version of TH2 there are two that are classified as a Harmonizer. IE they play two notes at once. an altered note and the original note They have a really good one called Pitchshift and another one called Octaver based on an old effects pedal.

They are not as fancy as the one provided in SToons link ie they don't play harmonies in a selected key. and they only play one interval at a time, but they do intervals like 4ths and 5ths and they sound ok. oh and of course they do Octaves too. Pitchshifter plays any interval an Octave above or below. you can even duplicate a note and set the second note slightly out of tune for a nice doubling effect. Which is a classic guitar effect.

But I will say no TH2 Which is a 99.00 plug in does not provide a $2000.00 rack mount unit type harmonizer like the eventide eclipse found in SToons link. You should download the TH2 demo and test it for free to see if The Harmonizers will meet your needs.

The phrase "true harmonizer" pretty much laid out what the OP was looking for and it's not simple pitch shifting.

Case closed.

I suggest getting the software sim you like best and then getting a SansAmp-GT2 or something similar...regardless of what software you prefer there is really at this point now way to get 100% in the box sounds that won't require a spatula and crowbar to make them sit in the mix with anything more than more of the same...a good direct box and a decent pre with some tunable EQ...just my opinion but then again I don't tweak the midi track I just do it over...your mileage may vary

Case not closed,

The very definition of a true harmonizer is found in the wiki link posted above. They are not as fancy as the harmonizer eventide, but by the very definition of true Harmonizer they are true Harmonizers and classified as such by the software program...The Answer is still Yes!!

No, none that I'm aware of. You can shove one like Mu Voice in front of the amp emu or, if you're feeling spunky and want to use it in the "middle" of a signal chain you could use two instances of an emu and shove it in between them.
