I've asked a similar question before....

I run Windows 7 64 bit with all my programs including Sonar at 64 bit as well.. 

I have a finished album I am working on in Sonar 8.5, in the mixing phase and will master in Wavelab 6..


At the same time I want to get started on a new project. But I want to start that in Sonar X1... 

Because of the issues I have heard about in the past with losing some work trying to use stuff done in 8.5, in X1, I never loaded X1 up.. Have had it for a year almost...

With all the patches and updates installed.. Will I be safe continuing to finish my current album in 8.5, while starting a new one in X1? Are there any glitched having them both installed on my PC at the same time?

Also, obviously I'd make copies but, with all the updates loaded up in X1, could I take my album from 8.5 and mix it in X1?

The biggest problem you may find is getting used to the new (and IMHO much improved) layout. You'll probably either love it or hate it.

There's several videos in my sig that may help with that regard. I think if you go into it accepting that X1 is a different program, albeit  familiar to 8.5 and are prepared for a bit of a learning curve then there's no reason why not.

I gelled real quick with the X series and I'm no Sonar noob, been using it since V2. There's no way I'd go back to pre-X1 look and workflow but as always YMMV.

Just subscribed to your Youtube page... don't have the time now, but plan on watching all.  Learning is always easier for me by watching someone else do it first. Thanks for taking the time.
