I am interested in getting some thoughts/advice on which midi packs to go for, having picked up the generic midi pack so I have 6 to choose from.
Typically I use keys for rock/indie type music with the occasional ballad type song.

I know the names are targeted at genres but I have found in the bundled content that I was surprised for example by some of the country patches which I would not have normally looked at.

Which packs do you find have had the most use?

For me, the genres are not restrictive at all. The Gospel, which is one of my favs, sounds very Bruce Hornsby in a mix. Each pack has a much wider use than I first thought. Indie Pop, the Ballad packs, Pop Rock,  R& B should all be useful. The jazz and Latin do not have a narrower focus, for me. Ymmv. Listen to the demos. You'll be able filter out want you won't want.

The only ones I didn't get were Jazz, Latin, Funk, and that last one, Country Roots. But the original Country, Gospel, and all others will surely fit your musical perspective.

I got the Funk real cheap around Christmas and it is pretty good. It sounds more like modern R & B and not real hard core Funk. I was hoping the Jazz Ballads would be more versatile but after listening to the demos decided it wasn't. Being a guitar player and a lot more comfortable with one hand than two on the keys, I would love a few left hand only packs. I can play enough to be able to add some things with the right hand to make it my own. I would think a lot of EZ Keys users are in the same boat on that. It would be great if the midi could be split between the 2 hands.

Oops, forgot about that. Got the Funk that way too. And it's definitely worth the 7 bucks.
Funnily enough, I dig Gospel the most, then both Ballads, Rock Ballads, Country, AOR, Indie Pop, RnB and Movie Scores. But I would love a Prog Rock pack so I can do my own Great Gig in the Sky.

The Gospel is my favorite too. I would love to see a couple Rick Wakefield and Richard Wright packs.

Generally, they're all quite good.....the least used one is Latin, but it's good for that genre. I like the Boogie, R&B, Classic Soul, Gospel, Pop/Rock, and Blues packs........all very musical/useful and the titles can be a bit misleading as they're much more broader than that.

" titles can be a bit misleading as they're much more broader than that." Mesh thanks for finally saying what I was trying to say and not doing a very good job. I agree the Latin is the least versatile and I would include the Jazz and Jazz Ballads packs.

I never got the Jazz packs as Juan great wise man (aka-keeper of ALL Midi Packs) had advised all of us naught knowers. Contrary to popular consent, I'm planning on getting the Country pack as well.......I'm just a wittle fish swimming against the current.

Thanks guys I really appreciate all the responses!!, they have been very helpful, the main concern I had was that I picked up something that would not get much use.

I can see that the Gospel pack has been highly recommended and that is one I might of looked over without some user opinions.
