bitflipperAccording to dictionary.com, "nonetheless" is a word of fairly recent vintage, dating only to 1936. So we can't blame it on Chaucer. Its synonym "nevertheless", however, dates to the 13th century. Even older is its precedent, natheless, which is from Old English (pre-900AD).
