• SONAR
  • Drum Maps - Which default drum maps are we unlikely to use?

Sonar X1/X2 comes with a bunch of drum maps. It's a pain to scroll through the list when selecting a drum map, so I'd like to move some of them into a zip.

The question is: which drum maps are for hardware, or for soft synths we are unlikely to use?

I have Komplete 8, so would like to keep the Native Instruments maps, plus any maps for kits that come with Sonar.

I'm guessing we should keep these:
- Beatscape Pad Triggers.map
- Blank Map.map
- Default.map
- DimensionPro Drums.map
- GM*.map -- since these are general midi, right?
- NI -- for those of us with Komplete 8

and maybe these:
- Inverted Map.map -- what is this?
- Numbers (Pass Thru).map -- what is this?
- Pass Thru Map.map -- what is this?
- Pitches (Pass Thru).map -- what is this?
- Session Drummer 2.map -- is this used by Session Drummer 3?
- Session Drummer 2 - Default.map
- Studio Instruments - Drums.map -- not sure about this
- RXP*.map -- are these for the REX player included with Sonar?

But what about the ones starting with:
- AKAI
- Alesis
- BFD
- DR-808
- Edirol
- E-MU
- Ensoniq
- GeneralMusic
- GS
- Kawai
- Korg
- Kurzweil
- Novation
- Purfffect
- Roland -- are some of these used by Sonar kits?
- Sonic Implants
- Superior Drummer
- Technics
- XG
- Yamaha

Which of those are for hardware?
Which are for soft synths not included in Komplete 8 or Sonar X2?

They're just trying to cover all bases with such an exhaustive list.

If you don't want 'em - delete 'em

Or if you want a more prudent approach, dump them into a different folder named "Old Drum Maps" or similar.

My question is which ones are unlikely to be used (and therefore can be moved to a different folder without affecting NI synths or Sonar's included synths).

You can see what they do by going to preferences and loading one to look at it's patterns.

For example, the inverted map reverses the MIDI notes:
