A big well done to Cakewalk for me on Sonar X2

Started with Sonar 3 all those years ago (from Cusbase) and loved it

Missed out all the others until I finally switched to Sonar 8 which was a big jump and learning curve

Then to 8.5, a few problems at at first but ok  but really wasn't feeling both versions, I liked them but just had something niggling me about using it

When X1 came along and after about 6 months of debating whether stay Sonar or jump to Alberton I decided on X1 or at least to give Sonar a last shot.
Well what a revelation that was, totally different and better. Was very happy.

So, I did not expect too much out of X2, but wow, I love every aspect of it, pro channel (emulation), Remix, Breverb, TH2, GUI tweaks, colours, well you know the rest.

I have been guilty in the past of something going wrong or not working  and jumping straight on the forum or technical looking like this , sometimes it has been the DAW problems, other times not, and it probably won't be the last , but CAKEWALK, once again you are proving your worth as company striving to drive forwards all the time and offer us great updates and products at very reasonable prices.

Phew, finally got that off my chest. Thanks CAKEWALK, now back to my project and X2

I can work effectively in a number of DAWs, but if I have any choice I really do prefer Sonar. This has been true for a while now, but X2 has really reinforced this.

I feel like I spend a lot less time thinking about the way that limitations in my DAW are shaping my workflow and more time just doing things. It really is fantastic!

Favorites so far:

1. Smart Grid
2. Console Emulation
3. Pro Channel FX Chains
4. Auto Zoom
5. Audio Engine Improvements
6. Take Lanes
7. Automation Lanes

I'm looking forward to playing with Breverb, TH2, and R-Mix more. I like them, but don't need them as much for my current projects, so I haven't dug in yet.

One of my buddies really wonders why I choose to mix on Sonar over Pro Tools. Using a lot of UAD I find the Freeze function invaluable, as well as the ability to apply FX, open clips in the full version of RX with easy back-and-forth, etc. X2 just added to my reasons.

Peace,

Tunes

I bought my first Cakewalk for my IMB-PC back in about 1985. Can't remember if it was version 1.x or something higher. I can still remember working on that low res. 12" amber screen - it was kinda mesmerizing in a way... So ya, well done, Cakewalk!
