Names aside... unless I'm mis-understanding you it's definitely working here. I've just opened a blank project inserted several tracks held down control key and changed one of the MIDI outs via the inspector, they all changed.

FBB I just loaded the 16 channel template and it works perfectly. Try loading a MIDI file as a native file and see what happens.

Okay - that was a circumstance I didn't think of.  Well, we're narrowing it down.  I'll take a look with a directly-opened .mid tomorrow.  But what if you immediately save as a .cwp?  Does it start to work from the inspector?

Wow its clearly a MIDI file issue. Bill put me on the right track and I can see how you would not see this as I do.

So to recap First thanks to Bill and Fast Biker Boy I have tentatively found the problem.

Its loading MIDI files as native files that has this problem. It should work but it doesn't. You can change all the outs via the widget in the header but not in the inspector.

Thank you both for your persistence and help.

Darn it Bill you ask darn good questions. I'll report back in a moment.

OK I saved it as a CWP file and closed it than opened it. It gave the same symptom. No global change from the inspector. BTW this a very simple file three tracks with three channels of a Bach song.

I can see the issue happening here...  weird corner-case.  For now, I'll look for some work around for you.  But, if you would be so kind, please submit a problem report so a true fix is considered for a future update.

Are you allowed to say 'Bach' and 'simple' in the same sentence?

Me being kind? Its you that has been kind. You solved it for me. I know that I am not going nuts. I will send a report soon.

Really, you have been wonderful on this forum. I don't think I would have ever found out what was the problem without your intervention. I have been dealing with this ever since X1 came out. I decided to mention it because it was really bugging me the last couple of days or so. When FBB and Noel reported no problem it seemed beyond my ability to understand it. It really is a relief.  Plus I do know a work around.  Use the header widget. This is a lot better than doing each track by hand.
