Last night I was creating a drum track using Superior Drummer. All was going well but I wanted more meat so opened the Pro Channel for the drums. As soon as I clicked on the preset folder Sonar crashed and sent a crash report to Cakewalk. I reloaded Sonar and re-did the section of drums that had been lost due to the crash. This time I saved and then clicked on the preset folder.
Crash and crash log sent to Cakewalk.
Turned off the PC and walked away.

I do hope X2 doesn't do this kind of thing.

This was like some old rave from the grave! It used to happen but I thought everything had moved on.
New PC, fresh install of Sonar, but the same old crashes .

A crash happens when you double-click the space just to the right of the preset name. Has been that way for some time.

Are you sure that's not what you are doing?

Definitely the folder.
I tried to open V Vocal on a clip last night and the same type of crash happened (one that sends a report to Cakewalk).
If I wasn't doing this stuff for "fun" I'd be a bit upset.

You'll be pleased to hear that clicking on the Prochannel preset folder in X2 causes an instant whiteout just as well as it did in X1. It makes me feel warm inside to know some things never change.

I hope the error reports lead to an improvement as this is starting to suck.
Everything else about X2 is pretty neat and an improvement on X1 but I can't keep having to reboot Sonar just because I click on a folder icon.

Is there anything unusual in your ProChannel Presets folder, maybe? Anything other than .pcp files?

Found in C:\Cakewalk Content\SONAR X2 Producer\ProChannel Presets

So have you actually reported it?

If you read my post you'll see I wrote "I hope the error reports lead to an improvement ...."

The Prochannel data is "as supplied".
I've booted up Sonar again and it is running okay. There will be a new error report sent today and some from when I first created this thread. If the reporting system gets valid data then I hope someone at Cakewalk will be able to see what is happening.

I'm hoping that when I start a new project in X2 this problem will go away as it is the same X1 project that had the original crashes.
Thanks for posting, it's comforting to know you guys are out there but I just hope it gets to the point that I can click on something without fear of a crash.

Installed X2 Producer on Friday (took several hours, thanks to download issues). Started X2, opened a legacy X1 project, tested it, everything worked fine. Was pretty happy about the new look.

Shutdown my machine and walked away for a couple of hours. Restarted the machine in the afternoon and Windows wouldn't load. Had to do a system restore from the point before the X2 installation. At this point, I'm quite panicked, but system restore worked flawlessly. My IT background gave me the sense to set a restore point just prior to the X2 installation.

Once resolved, I re-installed X2 and this time, no issues. Worked on some legacy projects Friday evening to get familiar with it - no issues except for some occasional dropouts (but I had those before. I suspect a conflict between my Alesis MasterControl surface and my Focusrite Saffire PRO 40 interface.)
Saturday, I recorded a 14-person vocal group. Three songs, minimum 32 tracks each. No issues. Dropouts twice. Granted, I haven't taxed the ProChannel modules yet, but seems rock solid to me so far. My only regret is not remembering to save my custom ProChannel presets.
