I am looking for the best solution for computer noise .  Preferrably I would like to get it out of the room and use some kind of wall panel to run the vga, usb, etc   Anyone done this?  Or what is the quitests case, fan pwr supply combo?

Have a look here.

If you're not in the UK I'm sure there are similar sites applicable to where you live.

I find just upgrading your fans can make a huge difference. Those little pee wee processor fans are loud,Also Video card fans..  I hung a big 5" in there and now mine is very quiet.  The bigger the fan they run slower therefore quieter.
I do sometimes put a small sound absorbing panel in front of the CPU which is under my desk.
Bottom line is the CPU noise floor is lower than that of my pre amps. :)

It would be a PITA to have the computer in another room.

Yeah it would be a pain but I am looking into it.  why?  for example when doing vocals with a a good condensor mic or acoustic guitars,  the fans still picked up.  But maybe if I get a really quiet computer/fans I will think differently.   If you have one so quiet that your preamps add more nosie that is pretty good.

You can replace your CPU and case fans but your Power Supply might still make a racket. Look into these brands. CPU fan: Noctua, Zalman. Case fans: Zalman. PSU: Coolermaster. There are also ways to sound proof your computer case. Go look at ADK's site to see what they use for silent systems to get a better idea of what to do.

My case is a Silver Stone and I bought it because it was built to be quiet. The CPU and Video card fans ( which don't come with the case ) was my only problem,, I believe my fan is a coolermaster ultra quiet or something like that....$10.
Pick up a Decibel meter and test your room.
about $50

Yeah... actually my post was a little faulty. Coolermaster usually has good stuff for all fans but Zalman and Noctua are good ones to look into as well. I lucked out and snagged a Zalman case that seems to be getting a little rare these days. Is nice. My Noctua CPU fan was a bit of a pain to install but worth it.

And the best way to silence your graphics card is simple - buy a passively cooled one, not fan cooled.
