Is there a way for an audio vst to output midi notes that can be directed to another tracks soft synth? I have an audio vst that outputs midi notes based on incoming audio that I have enabled as a soft synth and load via the synth rack and enable midi ouput checkbox. No midi tracks however have a choice for input from the vst's output though. If sonar does not support this natively is there a 3rd party plugin like energy XT, Friuty Loops, etc that would support this inside sonar? Using 8.5.3 PE.

I'm not exactly sure of your question, but if what your trying to do is have the same MIDI track play 2 different soft synths then simply clone the track and assign it to the other synth. Just change the output  of the cloned track to the second synth.
You can have 30 Kick drum tracks each playing a different sound. :O

The output of all midi tracks can be sent to an external synth via your interface MIDI output. The MIDI output is not for internal patching to other soft synths. We just use a copy of the same track.
There is no option to convert the audio into midi other than one note at a time, as in, you can convert a audio kick drum into a C2 MIDI note with audio snap.

Thanks for your reply. Let me rephrase to clarify. There are a small handful of audio vsts (one example is KT trigger, but that is not the one I am using, mine is a beta for a company That I am testing) that process an incoming audio stream and then spit out midi data. I was wondering if anybody knew of a way to configure sonar to route this midi data to a softsynth on another track. Many hosts support this but not sure about sonar. I think I used a loopback driver program years ago with sonar with a plugin called "midifier" but it was a convoluted process before there was an enable midi output option in sonar. Any help is appreciated.

Well if the plug in generates midi data from a audio source then either the plug in itself would have to have a MIDI out ( I doubt it) or would be used as a stand alone conversion program.
I can think of no way to route an audio track to an EFX send and then to a MIDI output, no way Jose.

A MIDI track can only send output to one softsynth or MIDI interface. If you need to send it to more, you need to clone the MIDI track and set the output to the other softsynth or interface.

vst's like kt trigger definitely aren't stand alone conversion programs, so they must have a midi out then. I guess the question is there a way or workaround when a vst provides a midi out, will sonar recognize it and let you route it to a input to a midi track (or soft synth).

You should ask this company your testing for.
I downloaded the KT Trigger and it looks like a big waste of time, typical of freeware.
It does what Audio Snap does with a sketchy GUI, It is as I thought, just for drums or transient sounds.
I read the instructions and they point at using Cubase. They say there's a list of DAWs that don't support it but the link is dead. My guess is Sonar is one of them. It said the output of the VST will now show as an Input to any MIDI track, Nope, not there.

Pitch to MIDI for non percussive material is a hard one, and to date, Melodyn Seems to be the the most recommended. A free ware plug in  that does this would be dreaming. Melodyn now comes built into Studio 1.

there are instructions for older versions of SONAR

but it does seem redundant post AudioSnap.

I don't know, guys.
In the following screen shot, one VST (Chordspace) is sending MIDI data to another VST(Pentagon)
If the VST's support it, it appears the path is available.

In this view, I am triggering notes in the Chordspace GUI, and they are being played properly through Pentagon.

OK, so basically its functioning like a MIDI THRU.
