  • X2 eq bug? solved, driver issue.

I'm finding that when I activate a PC EQ band or alter a band's frequency control X2's playback breaks up into distorion and noise, with, as far as I can tell, the track I was adjusting most broken up.

Hitting "pause" then restarting clears the noise and playback returns to normal. Same if I hit "stop" or reset the audio engine.

Having done the above, I can then make further eq adjustments on the track in question without problem, though if I then go to amother track and repeat the eq adjustment process the playback sound breaks up again.

I saw the same thing in X1, only that always required a reset of the audio engine to clear it. I reported it as a bug but Cake couldn't replicate the problem.

Anyone else seeing this?

what sound card are you using ?

I've had issues with certain things in the past where audio breaks up , and it was down to the soundcard / cruddy drivers.  (I use multiple DAWs so it was easier to pinpoint the card was the issue)

what latency, does making it bigger improve matters ?

Cakewalk UA-101, using WASAPI drivers (if I use ASIO, in X1 at least I get the bug where the last few milliseconds of each loop is blank when loop recording).

Latency is at 6ms, according to the preferences, which is pretty much as low as it will go while completely avoiding dropouts. Adjusting it doesn't seem to make a difference.

My guess is that it's probably a driver issue - I'll try switching to ASIO and see if that makes a difference.

Bummer.  Just to let you know...  This issue only happens with some hardware.  X2's audio engine enhancements have eliminated it completely.

Hi Bill,

Having done some testing, the eq problem seems to be connected with the UA-101 WASAPI drivers. Switching to ASIO makes it go away.

After a bit of testing I then discovered that, as you say, the loop record bug seems to have gone. Well done Cake. :-)

What's more, X2 is giving me lower workable latency times with ASIO than X1 was with ASIO or WASAPI and it feels generally smoother as well (crosses fingers).
