Im trying to use EZDrummer with studio x1. I am running in 64 bit, and I have downloaded the update for ezdrummer to run in 64bit. I am a complete noob to using sonar x1. I am clicking on synth - add synth - insert synth - vst plugins - ezdrummer. In the option screen that comes up I have ticked 'synth track folder', 'all synth audio outputs:stereo' and 'synth rack view'. This adds about 8 ezdrummer tracks. I then rightclick on ezdrummer in the browser on the right hand side to bring up the ezdrummer drumkit view, but when i click on the drums I dont get any sound. Also when i try to listen to different grooves there is no sound either. Please help. I obviously havent got the file path correct or I am not setting up the inputs/outputs correctly, can anyone please explain y I cant get ezdrummer to work?

thanks

I am sure that someone that owns Ezdrummer will come along. In the mean time, make sure that you have a drum kit loaded or there will be no samples for Ezdrummer to play.

@scook,its default is to load a kit apon insert.

if the GUI is loading, meaning the windows with the drums in it.
look at the progress bar,if the kit is not loading it means when you did the update you didnt make sure the dlll went into the correct folder.
your going to do a few things, first make sure your plug in manager is set up to accept the c/programfiles/cakewalk/vst plugins.
if not then plugin manager is not scanning those dll's.
this can be done by opening up the plug in manager/options/add folder.
but by default it should already be there.

go into program files(your 64 bit files)find toontrack,in this folder you should see the DLL for ez drummer.
this ddl needs to be moved to the 64 bit vst folder.(c/program files/cakewalk/vst plugins)
if cakewalk is not scanning this dll then how is it supposed to load it?

in short-take the dll from the toontrack folder and move it to the cakewalk programfiles/vst folder.

i hate to sound like a d.b. but did you not read the pdf file that came with your update?

Surely the problem isn't in the dill file if he is able to open up the program?
It sounds to me that perhaps EZdrummer doesn't know where you installed the audio data?
Although having said that the installer should remember your data paths unless you moved them after installation?

Also, on the right hand side of EZdrummer there should be a little box that tells you how many megabytes of each kit or kit piece has been loaded.
It should say around 260 MB. Does yours say anything? Try clicking the little arrow on say the snare and changing it from the "Rogers" to a "Rogers Damped".
You should see some action in the box on the right that shows you that the new kit piece is loading. If you don't see this you might have a problem with your data paths.

Another thing you might want to check is to see if the audio engine is actually switched on. It's an easy thing to overlook but has caught me out on a few accasions.
It's a little square with a squiggle though it that should be lit up green and it's on the transport module to the right of the play button.
If it's not lit up green then you won't hear anything.

your joking right ??

when you apply the 64 bit update if you dont direct the dll to the 64 bit folder the gui will load but the kit wont play.
because by default itgoes to the c/programfiles/toontrack folder instead.
the kit absolutely will in deed load but no sounds can be heard because sonar is still seeing the 32 bit plug in in the programfiles(86) vst folder.
you should really try doing a search before you confuse this kid even more then he already is.
im actually very surprised you have no idea what i am talking about since its been talked about in many threads and is also written in the pdf as an important note.

Thanks for the help everyone, this is my first time using a forum and im surprised at how quickly people have responded. So when I look at the drumkit the Mb size is sitting at zero. So I assume that means I have the file path wrong. Please remember that I am a complete noob when it comes to all this sort of stuff. Can someone plz tell me where to click and what to type in order to fix this problem?

Im having dropout issues also but i'll keep that for another thread lol :(

thanks

check your c/program files/cakewalk/vst plugins.
if you dont see a DLL called ezdrummer inside that folder then
ez drummer will not work.

now look in c/programfiles/toontrack.
is there a DLL named exdrummer in there?
yes there is,now take that dll and copy it to your
c/programfiles/cakewalk/vst plugins folder

its easy, then your problems will be solved.
your dropouts ???
start another thread.

Apologies to Dermy

I've had EZdrummer for a long time but pretty much stopped using it when I discovered the joys of BFD2.
I'd forgotten you can't change your data paths in EZdrummer like I can in BFD Eco & BFD2.

As for the 64bit update I did the update but don't remember having any issues of kits not loading so was obviously blissfully unaware and therefore uninterested in any threads about it.

How do I go about searching for issues which I have never been affected by ?

I was attempting to help and not confuse him Chuck
