The guitar recording was a bit noisy but I'm interested in your thoughts on the mix.

For the first time I used the Prochannel tape module while mixing.  Also A-type console emulation.

Most of the EQ compression is taken care of by the Waves Maserati plug-ins.  Also first time I have used them.  Maybe it's cheating but it does seem pretty quick to get a good sound.

I enjoyed it! Liked the sound of the guitar and the vocal. As you mentioned it was a little noisy but it didn't detract from the performance IMHO! Nice song too!

Good song jamie! I think the vocals sound very nice. You guitar accompaniment doesn't sound like a balanced EQ. I hear a dip in the mids which brings out the fret rub in the mix and a overall muddy sound. It's one of those things where the more you do it the better and easier it gets and sounds. Don't use EQ or Compression etc. unless you have a purpose and reason for using it in mind. Go for natural in the basic recording of the guitar. Less is more in this type of song IMHO. You playing is great. Picking your fingers straight up off the strings and going to the next chord also helps with the fret rub sound. It's a bit harder to play that way but worth the time you spend on that skill. Having fun is the key!!! I hope I've helped in some way. Good luck and keep playing!!

What a lovely tune and you've got a fantastic voice. Very expressive.

Oh, and I also like the mix/recording....I actually like the fairly pronounced fret noise; makes it somehow more intimate.

Great song and voice.  Reminds me of Nick Drake/Paul Simon.

Thanks for the kind feedback!  I'm tweaking a few things and should have a slightly improved mix up soon.

Fret noise...can't really get rid of it I'm afraid.  Maybe if my technique were a bit better!  As a guitarist I'm happy to leave it in rather than try to mix it out.  This song is played in the tuning of CFCFCF.

I have always enjoyed quirky tuning thanks for sharing, and the fret noise is cool.
