Sforzando is also what I use.
However it does NOT open SF2 files!
May I ask how you came to this conclusion ?

You can also drop SF2, DLS and acidized WAV files directly on the interface, and they will automatically get converted to SFZ 2.0, which you can then edit and tweak to your liking
you didn't mention in your OP you didn't want them converted or not. You were asking why Sonar couldn't "read" them. Thats the reason I suggested SForzando. However, there are other options out there. just none as complete as SForzando IMO. Use what ever you'd like.
