Can anyone shed any light on this please? First time for me using SF2 files. I thought the SFZ in Splat was supposed to be able to read them?

Thanks

It used to long, long ago, but the current version doesn't load sound fonts anymore.  Sforzando (which I think is still free) will import SF2 files.  There are a few other free VST that can do it but the solutions are kind of weak.

ahh okay thanks for that. Guess I'll need to hunt up a decent player. I guess 64 bit SF2 player VST would be out of the question too hahaha!

Hi. Sforzando is both 32 and 64 bit.

All the best.

Cakewalk's sfz+ can use sf2 files.

I believe its only 32 bit

Yes, that's worth pointing out too.
As others have mentioned, there are more modern options.

Sforzando is also what I use.

However it does NOT open SF2 files!

May I ask how you came to this conclusion ?

You can also drop SF2, DLS and acidized WAV files directly on the interface, and they will automatically get converted to SFZ 2.0, which you can then edit and tweak to your liking

you didn't mention in your OP you didn't want them converted or not. You were asking why Sonar couldn't "read" them. Thats the reason I suggested SForzando. However, there are other options out there. just none as complete as  SForzando IMO. Use what ever you'd like.
When ever someone uses CAPS and exclamation points, I get the feeling they are either yelling or telling me I have no idea what im talking about, so with that I will politely bow out of this thread.
