  • Loop Tip for Libraries with "Construction Kits"

Many of the Big Fish Audio loops are arranged in "construction kits," which means they all play well together to create complete compositions if that's how you want to use them. SONAR's Browser is particularly useful in this context because it's a "multitrack" loop browser - while a loop is playing, you can ctrl+click to select/de-select other loops to hear how well they work together.

The only constraint is all the loops have to be in the same folder; as soon as you use the Media drop-down menu to select another folder, playback stops.

I have always used the Matrix view for that and I have never tried to ctrl+click. Thanks!

Parts of what I had wanted to include in the 2017.10 eZine about how to use loops will be in an upcoming Sound on Sound column. I just felt this tip was too useful not to share with the community.

Thanks Craig, I appreciate that you're still chiming in with tips and help from time to time! That's a really useful tip.

No problem, remember I was fired from Gibson, not SONAR . I still use SONAR as my main DAW, Studio One for mastering and assembly (I've often said if SONAR didn't exist, I'd use Studio One), and Live for live performance.

[edit] And sometimes I have to do stuff in Pro Tools because that's the project format

I have S1 but apart from two frustrating attempts to do a project in it, it has lain fallow on my hard drive since purchase.
I'd love to know what makes S1 a good tool for mastering?

It can do album assembly, DDP export, and has good analytics. It replaced Sony's CD Architect in my roster of programs.

Ah, mastering in that sense. OK, thanks. Deserves some investigation on my part.

Craig any hope of you doing a video of a song or tune creation using the different Big Fish loops?
