Should be a visual clue when the track is collapsed. Like layers provided.

Takes of equal length: only one clip is displayed

Clips of different lengths requires extra attention to know there is more than one. Nearly impossible when zoomed out.

And: When the track is completely collasped no 1-click way to open the lanes, on the track.

=========================

And:  This is most disturbing:  (Am I missing this? Does this require another control key?)

Moving/Copying a clip to a track does NOT auto create a new lane.
Using the move tool
   control-click clip
   copy to track
    replaces the first lane's content

A new lane must be created before copying/moving a clip to the track to avoid this.

And: the "smart" tool "filter" must be set to clips on the original clip. Even with the move tool.

This make no sense to me. SO, What am I doing wrong?

From page 371 of the X2 Reference guide:-

Collapsed, with at least one existing lane. The button has a soft blue glow

Yup.   Just great.    soft blue glow: Another variation of grey on grey.

soft blue glow: on a button that does not show if the track is completely collapsed.

Another "clutter reducer" requiring the user to pay more attention to the FUI than having a quck clear indicator.

I don't need SUBTLETY.  I need quick and simple.

The tools on my shop workbench are quick to recognize: the philips drivers and gold, the flat are red,....

Why must the Sonar X series increasingly require more attention to know what is active, and to change tools to do stuff?

I don't understand why those two buttons are where they are either.

I'm also looking for a way to quick collapse lanes back to a fully minimized track instead of collapsing to the main track then minimizing that too. It's an extra & unwanted step that was doable with layers.
Is there a way or setting?

(agree about the button placement position. Why not underneath the main so they're all located in one place?)

Don't wanna ask for a feature that I have just not found.

So, I ask first to clarify exactly what should be requested.

2 items so far:
really obvious indication of multiple takes
quck way to open/close takes and track

Why not exactly where the SHOW LAYERS button used to be, given we still cannot show more than 29 characters in the track name. (should be able to open this completely)
