  • At this point would you guys say X2 is as stable or more stable than X1?

If it is working well enough for basic stuff with minimal crashes I might install it tonight or tomorrow. Cheers.

X1 was a nightmare for me.......

X2 has been running now on heavy use for 48 hours of studio time with one very small crash.

X1 would crash on me on a regular basis.

If you read through this forum tho, many people are having issues with X2... I however am not one of them.

@Markyzno... Thanks for the input. Yeah there seem to be various issues but they seem to be more power user issues. I'm hoping just running it for basic recording and editing it'll outdo X1. X1 tends to do wacky stuff that I think the new audio engine might help and I really want to get my hands on TH2, the take lanes and R-Mix... but not if it's gonna impede my learning curve. Cheers.

No. X1 was very stable for me from the first day. X2 is stable but not so much. It has some teething problems that need to be sorted out. Its still a great first release though.

However all my remarks about X2 have to be viewed through the fact that I am on Vista 64 bit.

I think you'll be fine then. Like I say, I'm a "power User" but have no issues.

The thing you will love is the continuity in workflow in X2.... It makes X1 look like a hand job given by barbed wire (Ouch!)

Take Lanes have had some criticism from other threads but I have found them a joy, also R-Mix has been great and I dont know what they have done to the audio engine but my processors are quite happy with 12 synths, **** loads of Plugs, Busses, Midi etc etc etc (so around about a 40 track project)

X2 is ALL about better editing.

Its a lott more stable and easy to work on !! In order for it to be this responsive, they had to real'y work on the Audio Engine !! and do remember every ones system here is different os/parts/setup !!

BE ADVISED:  When I installed X2 it permanently corrupted my installation of X1.  Now I can't go back to what once worked for me.  Be careful.

Great info, guys. This is exactly what I wanted. I'll be making a full system image on my E drive before installing so I can just go back (hopefully) if it screws up my computer. Also truncated specs are: i7 2600k, 16GB DDR3 Corsair Vengeance, 500GB/1TB Caviar Black 7200 6.0 drives, 700W PSU, ASUS Pro Gen3 MOBO, Focusrite Scarlett 18i6 and I'm running Win7 Pro. Cheers.

And, John... when the heck are you gonna join the Win7 crowd, buddy? You'll love it!
