  • At this point would you guys say X2 is as stable or more stable than X1? (p.2)

Running on a test rig very stable so far 64 bit windows 7. I feel plugins are the main issue with daws. Some are well crafted other not  so good.

Star, care to elaborate on corruption of X1. I was going to post that exact question, but came across this first, I have 8.5.3 Prodx64, X1d Expandedx64, all on same machine, and was going to put X2 right along with them. Now, a little worried, because X1 is stablw as hell, and has been since d! Looks like I need to spend a few hours going through posts, thanks for heads up!

That's a good point, fitzj. The only plugs I'm using are Sonar plugs with the exception of GR5 and BFD Eco so hopefully that will help keep any wackiness at bay. Cheers.

Beepster, maybe you can save me a few hours, have you seen any other major problems with people loading X2 along with X1 Producer? I haven't been on for a few days, so kinda out of touch with the majority of what users are saying. I would greatly appreciate it! Thanks!

@gray... There have been mixed reports (I've been scouring the forum since its release) but most don't seem to really apply to what I'm doing right now. Just little glitches that sound more like nuisances than anything else but a couple of people seem to have had a couple of catastrophes but probably due to their systems or how they went about their installs. I will be running it alongside X1 until I completely wipe the system (probably in a few months). I just don't want to go through the hassle of installing if there are any major show stoppers at the basic level. To me it sounds like everything will be fine but I wanted to double check before moving forward. In other news I just blasted out my ears will trying to get a final mix on my project. I was moving my trackball unit around on my desk and one of the buttons got hit by my keyboard which apparently decided to crank the volume on my piercing lead guitar track. Right before mixdown and mastering. I am not having a very good day.

And, John... when the heck are you gonna join the Win7 crowd, buddy? You'll love it!

Never! Win 7 would offer nothing to me. I may go with win 8 though.

@John... Duuuuuuuuude, let Win8 mature (or flop). Win7 Home and Pro will be supported through to 2018 and is tried and true. Then if 8 gets it's act together you have an easy upgrade path but if it flounders you won't be stuck with it and can move on to whatever MS releases to replace it. You're gonna need something before the first X2 patch methinks. I saw the bakers talking about how the current version of X2 will be fine for XP and Vista but as soon as they implement the touchscreen stuff it might bug right out on both OSs (please folks don't quote me on that it is just what I've gleaned from what they've said on the forum and may not be reality). Win 7 however is supported so you'd be safe on both the OS and Sonar fronts. I'm sure you've heard the Win7 arguments to the point of obnoxiousness at this point though but I'd hate to see you stuck. Anyway... finally got a mix I can master. Might be up on the songs forum later if all goes well. Cheers.

I am not sure how a corruption could happen. I have 8.5 Pro, X1 Ex d and X2 Pro all on the same machine.  I did have X1 LE on it too but deleted it before I installed X2 I also deleted my 32 bit X1. Never used it except once.

There was a post with X1 some time back where it was said their 8.5 install was messed up by the X1 install.  Few if any others had that problem.  I wonder what the person reporting a messed up X1 after an X2 install did to cause it. Its not impossible but I have been adding versions for as long as Sonar's been around and never had an issue. Also because they always install in their own directory unless you make them do otherwise its hard to see how one install could effect the other.

For me X1 is the more stable so far yet X2 is very close to it.
