Hey, I got X2 set-up with very little problems and have been checking out the threads to see how everyone is doing. I havent pushed it very hard yet as it took me the better of two days to get everything set-up , registered , serial numbers etc. Im looking forward to working with the new features , but im also having cautious energy for the TH2.I worked a little with Guitar Rig but Im hoping i can get some killer tones out of the TH2. I was getting ready to head to the music store and get back to a physical head and cab and start mic'ing for my tones so maybe someone can suggest some settings for a solid modern metal type tone. high gain , tight in your face type tone. has anyone pulled some really good sounds out of the TH2 yet? im running a bypassed signal through the GNX4 with a Ibanez RG I know it takes some exploring but maybe someone has a good starting point Thanks!

Some time ago Cakewalk announced they will have TH2 in SonarX2. Before that ik had never even heard of TH2. I donwloaded the demo some weeks ago an started fooling around. DAMN.... this is by far the best ampsim i ever heard (heard Podfarm, Guitarrig 1,2,3,4,Amplitube and some other.) TH2 kills them ALL. Especially on clean and light crunch tones. But the gain/sounds are awsome too. Try it and like it !!!!

A killer metal tone…I'm tweaking but I'm getting a lot of noise
From the high gain settings , also I have input echo enabled but 
I'm getting that doubled delay sound , no sound when input
echo is off. 

I'm looking to dial in a "clean" distortion , metal tone. 

I know I should be able to dial in a good go to tone and get that
High gain tone without the high volumes as in a cranked up amp

I am on the other end, I am not impressed with it (the sounds). It doesn't sound bad, just doesn't live up to the hype. Guitar rig or amplitube will do the same thing, easier. You really need to get the demo before purchasing. Maybe you'll think its the greatest.  The coolness factor of the design is  high, but you can't get everything in the same screen., even to navigate or view from one sound preset to another is more "clicks,  drags and scrolls" then it really needs to be. Anyway, I purchased it last night and wish I would not have at this point. Guitar Rig is easier to use, compact and has sounds just as good IMO.
 
Sonar X2 is also this way. my "clicks & scrolling" have increased at least 3x that it was for X1.

One of the keys to getting a good tone with TH2 is to understand how the cabinet works and using the 4 mics to your advantage. here is a video that talks about the cabinet secrets

These should get you started and pointed in the right direction The cabinet video is the most important one. Also look into the IR capabilities for even more custom tones.

Im dialing in much better sounding stuff quicker in TH2 (full), than I ever was able to using GR or Amplitube.... It just flows better for my tastes ... As always YMMV...

This is the case with me too mikey. TH2 seems to be a lot easier to use in finding that custom sound I have been looking for. I have also noticed that the export function in X2 works a lot better when I render mixed songs. I tend to export a few times then make adjustments to TH2 because the export sounds a lot different then the original tone before render. 

This is no longer an issue to me. One of the changes that have occurred on export would be the volume of certain tones. I have not tried Pod Farm yet but it is great to know this is resolved. I no longer worry about the export of tone being different then what I hear inside Sonar.

I know it will sound different on different monitors. but when I ran an exported mix back through the same monitors it never did sound the same so I would always tweak it until I found what I was looking for.
