I have three versions of Sonar on my system:

Sonar X1 32 bit
Sonar X1 64 bit
Sonar X2 64 bit

Can I safely use add/remove programs to uninstall Sonar X1 32 bit without affecting the other Sonar installs?  I don't have my plugins stored within the Sonar X1 32 bit folder so they should be ok, but I want to be sure.

I never use the 32 bit version and it is just taking up space and confusing any plugin installers.

Back when I only had X1 (32 & 64 bit) I thought it would be efficient to uninstall 32bit.

It removed some common files (presets and such).

So now I install both and keep both.

Especially since I still have some 32bit only plugs, having 32bit SONAR installed is cheap (diskspace etc) insurance in case I ever *have* to use 32bit SONAR.

Thanks Bapu, I'll keep it installed.

It's safe to uninstall anything that is 32 bit. You will never use it. You never want to go back if you start using x64bit...
So in the future, never install anything that is 32bit. I have used SONAR x64bit for over 5 years time know. Never needed to use SONAR x32 one single time..

Freddie,

You are aware that there have been some reports that certain 32bit (only) plugs simply will not work in SONAR 64bit with either bitbridge or jbridge, right?

In that case one might need 32bit SONAR to at least get a frozen track to import into 64bit SONAR.

I'm not saying you gave bad advice but, IMO, you either did not think it through or did not preface it with "if you are using only 64bit plugs".

Just a thought.

Perhaps. I don't use them for sure. 99.8 % of all my plugins are in x64bit today.
99% of all major manufacturers support x64bit today. The only thing that I can come up with is Soundtoys. I don't use Soundtoys. UAD works in SONAR & Jbridge bitbridge + that UAD release x64bit version any day soon.

I agree with your specific situation. But not everyone is 99.8% 64bit. And, not everyone uses only major manufacturers. To be helpful means to understand the needs of all the variations out there. JMO and that's what I try to do.
