  • Is it possible to edit take lanes across mutliple tracks at the same time

Had a go at comping some guitar takes last night and had a close mic and distant mic on the cab going to 2 separate tracks each with lanes switched on.

The first thing that was a pain (unless I was doing something wrong?) was only having the ability to have one of the tracks take lanes expanded at once and therefore having to go through multiple expands just to mute each tracks takes.  The second thing was only have the ability to edit one of the tracks various takes one at a time.  I was looking for the ability to have any edit I did to the close mic track be reflected in the appropriate take lane in the distant mic track as well but couldn't find the ability to do it which rendered the functionality pretty useless.

I'm sure it was me being thick and they would have thought of this so if someone knows how and can explain how to do it I would greatly appreciate it

Thanks in advance

If you turn off Auto-Zoom, you can have both tracks expanded at the same time. I actually don't think take lanes will work very well with multi mic/multi track setups. I'd advise hiding the lanes and edit them like whole tracks.

You need to disable autozoom as suggested and then put the clips into clip groups. It's possible to do this at recording time but also possible after recording if you didn't do it. Select the clips, right click and select "Create selection group" from the right click menu.

To optimise the view select the tracks you want to work on and then hold the shift key down while resizing one of them. All selected tracks will then open to that size. Make sure auto zoom is disabled first though. That is screenset independent so if it's something you do regularly it's worth setting up a screenset for it.

I would think that selecting clips from the two tracks and creating Selection Groups out of the clips that relate to each other in the Track Lanes would be my first step.  That way when you edit a clip in one Track Lane the same edit will occur in the the other Track's Track lane.
