I know its each to their own, but is there a good optimal position for placing the console emulation? first in PC chain, last in PC chain? Logic tells me, end of chain, since in a real console the effect would be noticeable at end of chain on the desk after going through the circuits on the channel? Ive never used a real desk so, just logic telling me this.

I always put bus modues last, channels anywhere in chain depending on how I want to drive or gain stage them.

I would guess up front on channels and last on busses. On a console, the preamp/input circuitry would come before any compressor or EQs on a channel, while the output stage would make the biggest difference on a bus.
