  • Our Planet - Remixed 4/7/14 (start, ending, and distortion addressed)

Last fall I posted this video and got a lot of good feedback.  I received many good suggestions on improving the mix and have incorporated many of them into this new mix.  Since that time, I have added to my mixing arsenal with new monitors and the ARC 2 system which greatly helped with my room inadequacies.  I am reposting this video, and I'm hoping that you can give me some feedback as to how I did.  Of course, it's still open to your ideas, and I welcome and thank you for your participation.

This is a brand new version as of 4/7/14.  I addressed the start, ending, and distortion issues that have been pointed out to me.  I want to thank all who have contributed.  If you can stand it, I'd love to hear whether I was successful or not. It is now called "Our Planet HD".

It can be found here: https://www.youtube.com/w...7PrwXH0HBVSjkxoW1xiTaw

I highly recommend that you view this in HD if it doesn't automatically play it in HD.

Hi Lynn,
I listen on a laptop so I can't really analyze a "mix".  I enjoyed the tune and the message. Also, the front and the end need to be not so abrupt I think.

Great job Lynn, love the song but I agree with timidi about the abruptness. Nice vocals!

@ Tim and Tony-Thanks for your replies and compliments.  As for the abrupt ending, I have so many songs that fade out that I wanted to try something different.  I was caught off guard about the 8 bar beginning, though.  I'm open to ideas.  Perhaps some sound f/x leading into the beginning?  I still have some spare video clips.

Perhaps a reverse ride cymbal intro?

I like that idea!  I could run that through the opening credits.

Lynn, I loved it and it sounds great. Very nice piece of work all the way around. Enjoyed.
Do tell how you put the video together!!

Thank you, John for your kind remarks.  As for the video, I googled free video clips and public domain stuff.  There's a company called Video Blocks that offered a week of free downloads, no strings attached, that provided most of my clips.  They offer a choice of mpeg or mov. clips, and I chose the mov. clips because they translate to HD better.  If you're willing to dig a little, there's a ton of stuff out there waiting to be used.

I'd almost opt for a drum opening - introduce the energy.  Anyway, sounds great.  And the video is very catchy, even if not in HD.

Thanks AT for the kind words.  I'm thinking about the beginning, but I'll wait before I leap.  Youtube is a little more convoluted than some sites, so when I make a change, I want it to be right.  Your idea is on my list.
