Since I have not seen such reports: Studio 4 successfully installed and works fine in Lexington so far.

I had no studio before, so I do not know yet how good it should cooperate. I can see several Sonar tracks in it, I can see notes from all of them (can switch that inside Melodyne, "Show notes for reference") but I can not change which track I am editing without clicking on required clip in Sonar.

I just watched a bunch of the new videos re: the new features in Melodyne 4 Studio. And it looks absolutely fantastic! The ability to synthesize sounds and make them sound completely different is awesome, and the tempo detection and editing tools are just what I need when I get live material sent to me and the tempo is all over the place in some spots--makes it harder to add other instruments and get it all together easily. So I think it's a no-brainer for any of us that are already using this, and particularly to go from editor to studio has a lot more, for not much more $$$ to upgrade. I'm sold, although it will take a while to become good at it--there's a lot of discovery you can get just by fiddling with the various new tools they have added.

There is a lot of hype over this and before I (or anyone else) jumps on the hype train, you should take a look at the disappointing reactions over at Gearslutz people are having over v4. Not to say we shouldn't update, but more than once some of us have been burned by jumping on the hype "no-brainer" train.

There are some very good example files here as well to back up their statements.

While you make a good point Terra...Celemony is usually pretty quick with
fixes if there are problems...i.e...the version I installed was 4.1....

Version 4 Essential should be fun to play with for a while but this could be hard for me not to go for, and soon. Didn't Celemony send out a pretty good upgrade offer right after authorizing Essential with X3?

That's kind of what I'm hoping will happen. I'm not sure if this is intentional though. Some seem to think they are shifting a bit of their direction. Time will tell. I'll likely still pick it up for the intro price.

They did. It was pretty much the same deal as they are offering here to go from Elements to Editor. I think it was $150. Not sure if they will give a better deal than that for Sonar users.

okay so I have Melodyne Essentials that came with Sonar X3 Pro and SPLAT.

upgrading my current Essentials to Melodyne Studio 4 costs $749.00.

SPLAT 2016 is getting Melodyne Essentials 4.  posted here:  http://www.cakewalk.com/Products/SONAR/Rolling-Updates#Coming-In-2016

I see no cheap way of upgrading Melodyne Essential to Studio.

maybe I should register my new SPLAT Melodyne serial with Melodyne and they will sent me that 50% off upgrade offer again.

totally confused by all this.

I'm also upgrading from Editor 2 to Studio 4. Just waiting for Audio Deluxe to complete my order. It came to $125.99 U.S., as some of you have already mentioned.

I'm very excited about the freely-played (no-click) tempo analysis capabilities it seems to have. Here's hoping it works as advertised, especially once it gets a load of the material I sing and play into it! :)

No. Studio has all the features of Editor plus a lot more.

like after detection of a tempo map, you can edit (or even out) the tempo map and export the tempo map (as MIDI) for import into SONAR.

I have a bout 30 old songs I'd love to do this with.
