  • X2 performance tuning?

I installed X2 yesterday just before a session I had scheduled. My producer and I started to work in X2 on a previously started X1 project but we experienced a lot of audio dropouts (dialog popping up for this). Maybe one every 2 minutes or so. After 20 minutes or so, we went back to X1 for this project, figuring I will experiment with X2 when I'm not paying for someone's expert help (mostly musical since he's a PT/Mac guy, but he's gotten up to speed on Sonar X1 very fast).

I almost never see dropouts in X1 - it runs smooth as silk. This was not an especially big project (maybe 10 audio tracks, fair number of effects like GR4, mostly using Prochannel for per-track EQ etc., no problems in X1). I have a fairly recent laptop (Toshiba Qosmio X775 with Core i7 and 8 GB RAM, 64 bit Win7).

New software versions usually get bigger and require more resources. My question: is there any sort of tuning I can do in Sonar or Win 7 to help X2 run better? I realize this is not an exhaustive test by any means, but the very same smallish project runs great in X1.

Thanks,
Bruce

You can adjust the Dropout msec value in your audio.ini file and you can adjust your sound card driver settings
