  • Is Comping actually harder in X2?

Maybe I am just having trouble getting used to the changes in the smart tool.  However, I find it hard to edit the edges of overlapping clips to tweak crossfades because I have to actually clip the top of each clip to select it first.

Also more awkward to select and copy parts of clips because the smart tool doesn't go to "move" mode on the bottom half of the clip anymore.

And take lanes...I just don't see how they are really any different.

Someone help me out here.

Smart tool is WAY more intuitive in X2 if you ask me.

Sweep selecting in the lower half of a clip is a one movement action for copy/moving. Sweep select click in the header and drag.

Take lanes are a great improvement on layers IMHO. Easier to sort & control.

Interesting how people like one way over another and some feel strongly about it. Allowing user customization would make sense wouldn't it? But NO! No one could possibly program something so complex, man just can't live at that speed! Sonar 8.5.3 and Reaper both support tool customizations, but the new approach at Cakewalk is to code users into a box. Why have options in the workflow when you can force your paradigm on the user? Makes it hard to pick a brand (or stay with them after ten years even) unless you like how their tools work.

I haven't even used Track Lanes yet, but how would one customize those?
