stonehedge: you are correct, the DimPro in X2 is exactly the same as X1. There is no need to install the one in X2. Hopefully ccmacdon will get this sorted out soon.

There's quite a lot of posts today, so I know it's easy to miss, but I posted this earlier for more clarification: http://forum.cakewalk.com/fb.ashx?m=2666564

ccmacdon,

Can you send me a Private Message with the Serial Number you're using and the Registration Code you've tried? I'm sorry you're running into some weirdness with it. I'm sure we can sort it out but we shouldn't discuss your personal registration information publicly.

Ryan can you shed any light on Rapture (specifically 64bit). I have Rapture 1.2.2 file version 1.2.2.7 with all the expansion packs and a bunch of custom multisamples and programs and would like skip the Rapture install. Does X2 ship with a more recent version of Rapture?

Not sure Dimension Pro 1.5 in X1 is the same as Dimension Pro 1.5 in X2. There is a folder called patch when it unpacks. Might have been the same with X1 who knows.

Well overdue for a Dimension Pro 1.6 anyway.

a) Admin permissions should not be needed to register.
b) When installing the installation files should unpack on the destination drive (installation), not the source drive (where the setup file is) .

Ditto with Rapture.

It's a pity because on the whole Sonar X2 installation routine and configuration is excellent, time to clean this up ! :).

DimPro is the same, see the link in Ryan's post, specifically http://forum.cakewalk.com/fb.ashx?m=2666564 I am guessing the same is true for Rapture but I really would appreciate some confirmation on way or the other.

Sure. The Rapture installer is a full 1.2.2 install that installs the plug-in as well as the content. It requires a different serial number (CWRP-1.22-XXXXXX-XXXXXX) so if you have an old serial number and want to install using this installer... make sure to grab your new one. The difference between this installer and what we had in the past is that the full version of Rapture that has been available to customers in the past was a 1.2.1 installer with an update available to 1.2.2.

If you already have it installed, end result on this is the same. As far as I'm aware no content or new features went into Rapture for the X2 release. I'll double-check with our product managers, but I'm pretty sure the content is the same. What's "new" is that it is the first time we've released the FULL version of Rapture to Producer customers versus Rapture LE.

The Rapture installer is part of the SONAR X2 Producer setup wizard, so if you choose "Basic Install" it will launch the Rapture installer at the very end (similar to how Guitar Rig 4 LE launched at the end of the SONAR X1 Producer installation). If you don't want to install Rapture because you already have it installed (or you don't have it installed and you're just crazy!), then you can click [Cancel] on the Rapture setup screen or you can choose an "Advanced Installation" and remove it from your list of selected components. I'd recommend doing it the later way though I haven't personally run into issues just clicking [Cancel]

EDIT TO MY OWN POST: see strikethrough text above. This could potentially cause this: http://forum.cakewalk.com/tm.aspx?m=2667238 (I haven't verified it). Re-installing Rapture by entering the Serial Number would resolve it if that's the case.

I hope that helps!

In this case, I'm absolutely positive it is. I helped link up the X2 Producer purchases to the same downloads for X1 Producer purchases. Nothing has changed for this installer.

Fantastic, thank you for your help. I know it has been a long day, I really appreciate your help. This type of stuff is the extra value that we get from CW that makes it a cut above.

Issue (1)
The Dimension Pro Installer  kept saying another version was installed. After 4-5 attempts, I uninstalled all Dimension Pro versions ( I had 1.2 and 1.5)  with everything uninstalled and re scanning plug to make sure it is gone, I still get  the message "another version is installed"  nothing shows up on the windows program uninstall list. I went ahead a remove 8.5 from my system as well and have gone over  the entire system (5 drives) looking for another copy of dimension pro. Nothing.   Still getting a  "another version is installed" message from installer.  ANy advice before I do open heart surgery on my Windows registry?

Issue (2)
We are suppose to get a full version of Rapture correct?  I have to do a "custom install"  to my D: drive  during that process it never asks to install Rapture.

I now have serial number for both Dimension Pro and Rapture and apparently no way to install them.
Any work around would be appreciated
Thanks

FYI the X2 addition context installer seems to be hard-coded to only the C drive.

UPDATE:  after hand editing about 3 dozen lines out of my registry  I finally got the 1.5 Dimension Pro to RE-install...  Then had to re-install all all my  Digital Sound Factory add on's.
Still no work around for  the missing Rapture installer. Can you send me a link to  just a  full Rapture install please?

Can you PLEASE make a LARGE PRINT note to future customers  to not try to install 1.5 if they already have it?

My problem authorizing my new version of Dimension Pro dissappeared without explanation.. This morning I followed exactly the same authorization process as I did last night (10 times) and it simply worked and my Dimension Pro 1.5 version is now registered... no problem this morning..  Mysterious..

I've encountered two problems that should be addressed in big letters in the download instructions..

1. My executable files were all renamed and the .exe file extension was deleted.  I see many people reporting this as an issue, and it wasn't difficult to resolve but it should be addressed so there isn't any confusion.
2. Why send a new copy of Dimension Pro 1.5 to people who already have it? Secondly if Cakewalk don't know whether I do or don't have it (they should it's in my account info) as jpettit says then they should tell us NOT to install it.

However, thanks to Ryan for his help on this. I'm sure he's a really busy guy today, but he took the time to send me a rather long/detailed note to help with my problem.. typical great Cakewalk guy!!
