Freddy J
The other day I listened to an on-line archive of John Richbourg (John R).  If you are not familiar with John R, he was an extremely popular DJ on WLAC radio "way down south in Dixie" (Nashville Tenn.)  Although he was white he played a great mix of Blues, and  R & B way back in the 1950's and 1960's.  If the weather, wind, and every other condition were just right I could receive the powerful WLAC signal when I lived in London, Ontario and also when I lived in Florida.  That was some great music and his commercials were equally as entertaining.  Listening to the archive motivated me to try and come up with a song (probably a mistake) that would sound like some of the great instrumental Blues, R & B and Memphis sounds (e.g., the early Stax records) that John R would play.

This number has a bit more distortion on the guitars than you would find back then but for those of you that are familiar with the show or the sounds I hope that I have gotten even a little bit close.  As always I appreciate any comments, crit.'s, feedback, etc.

Thanks.

I'm not sure about this one Freddy.  I'll have to listen again when I'm more awake.  A few spots where major and minor clash unpleasantly (imho).  You know I'm a fan of yours so I'm being honest.  Seems as though you might do a bit of patching.  I like the idea of it but it might should have cooked a bit longer.

Freddy, Yes, a good listen and very radio sounding for the days gone bye. Guess you have to be over 60 to get it. Enjoyed and sounds close enough to get the old feel again.

Peace and Blessings, John

Hi Warren, Robbie, Kenny, John, and Rik!  My apologies for taking so long to respond.  For the past few weeks I have been poked prodded, measured, and otherwise undergoing a bunch of tests and procedures in preparation for a series of medical procedures that I will be undergoing.  That has put a premium on free time.

Thanks for taking the time to respond to this post.  Warren I appreciate your honesty and I always appreciate your input.  I appreciate the input from everyone (Robbie, Kenny, John, and Rik).  Believe it or not I actually do take suggestions to heart and especially try to incorporate them into any new stuff that I do.  You all are the pro's and have the experience and talent.  If I were to call myself a rank amateur, I would be exaggerating.  I would really appreciate it if you could provide a few specifics on this post (remember it's me -- not too technical).  I would like to be more aware of what to avoid especially on future instrumentals.

Thanks again.
